Eragon~
After the long day I easily collapsed into my own bed. Saphira came in afterwards, curling up in her basin, the blankets rustled as they met with her scale. I slipped into my waking dreams, seeing things, but not actually watching, rather, just noting the colors and shapes as they moved. A small buzzing feeling started. Was it morning already?
I woke, and glanced out the window, only to be greeted by the sight of darkness and the moon. It was still late. Probably midnight or earlier. Why had I woken? I laid in silence for a minute, until I heard a small muffled thump, coming from across the hall. Iara was awake too. But why?
I listened as her door creaked open, and she walked out into the hallway. Because she was so quiet, especially for a human as my sharp ears could barely hear her, I nearly had a heart attack as I heard a series of sharp clacks. Grimm was awake as well. What were they doing? The small amount of noise was barely detectable as they went down the hall, down the stairs and into one of the rooms.
Were they leaving? When I had felt Grimm's mind, I could easily see he did not trust us. Had he convinced Iara to leave? Then I thought, even if he had, where would they go? They had nowhere to go, if they even left. I sat there, pondering just that, until I heard claws on the stone again. As well as near-silent footsteps. The door creaked as Iara held it open and walked inside.
Once the sounds had died down, and the slow breathing that Grimm was capable of when he was sleeping had started, I relaxed a bit more. After that sleep came easier.
