Iara~
Marumen was the first thing I saw. Virtue had hold of him in her front paw. She landed outside of the crumbling tower, and set him down. I got to my feet and began to run over to him, Dru behind me. And then a tremor ran through the ground. I didn't manage to catch myself and I bashed my knees.
I was weak. I needed more rest. But Marumen was hurt. He needed help.
"Virtue what happened?!" I screamed over the sound of the earth. A flash lit up the morning sky, and part of the blue was turned to red as the blood of the earth spilled out.
He and the other two were following the trail the phoenix left. And then they started that.
"How do three boys cause a volcano to erupt? Dru I told you so!"
"Where are the other two?" Dru yelled.
Last I knew, they were running after me. I don't know where they are, I flew fast. Please just fix Marumen!
I hobbled forward and rolled him over gently, so he faced up. He was unconscious, good it would make it easier.
"Marumen..you messed up." I said. "Dru I don't have the strength. I think he broke his hip or something."
"I've never fixed a bone before..."
"Do you trust yourself to heal him?"
"..Yes. Move, I'll get it done. Listen, you have to go and find Eragon. He's somewhere on the island, and he went into Doru Areaba."
"I know, I'll hurry."
"He...he went into the stone." Marumen whispered.
"Marumen what stone?" Dru asked slowly.
"The big one, there were doors and then he and Saphira walked in."
That could only be every boulder in the city. Though I had an idea that seemed likely. A rock big enough for Saphira to walk into. The Rock of Kuthian. I had read a little on it, mostly about some elven dragon rider.
"Dru, as soon as Luke or Mikael gets back send someone to get the others, I'll find Eragon."
"Alright just go! Be safe!"
"Of course." With that I grabbed my sword from its place on the ground, and managed to get outside without being injured further. Grimm was waiting on the ground, curled up and watching.
The Rock of Kuthian isn't far, do you wish to fly or walk?
It'd be easier to fly, Grimm.
I don't even see why we need Eragon. He can't stop a volcano from erupting.
But he can be here to heal anyone who gets hurt. He and Murtagh, along with Saphira and Thorn, have experience with this. It would make all of us feel better if they were here. I thought. I sure knew that I would feel better.
Alright alright, come on, let's try to hurry.
I went over to Grimm as fast as I could, and then I halted as I felt a warm feeling wash over me. I felt rejuvenated. Grimm blinked once.
There. Now you may be able to walk without hobbling around like a stunned owl. He had given me a portion of his own energy.
Grimm you didn't have to.
It doesn't matter.
I climbed on, Grimm's scales sharp. It was just like when I had first met Eragon. Scared and without a saddle. I knew how to ride bareback this time. Grimm took flight with a few quick beats of his wing, and suddenly we were high above the city.
