Eragon~
She fell to the ground, and I just stood there. I couldn't comprehend what had just happened. My knees felt weak. Here was a child....no..a friend.
She had grown up..I had watched her grow up. She was more than just a friend, half of the people in Alagaesia were my friends..she was a family member. Not a daughter, or a sister...but almost something in between.
And here she was, dead at my feet. By my blade.
No..she did it herself. After handing me the only thing that could bring her back.
Grimm let out a mournful trumpet and I heard him trying to get to me. Saphira kept him down, though.
Eragon, it is done. Now hurry, you remember what she said. Give it to her.
With shaking hands I dropped my sword and fell to my knees.
Seeing her like that..bloody and unmoving...it was alike to when I thought that wall had fallen and killed Roran. I was crushed.
I tossed the amulet to her.
With lightning speed her limp arm shot up and grabbed it. With a snap that sounded like a bone breaking, one of the small red gems fell out and onto her chest.
It broke in half, letting off a small amount of red mist. And then those broke in half, letting off the same amount of red.
That process repeated, until she was covered in the soft red. I watched as her wound healed itself, until she was whole.
With a gasp, she spat out the remaining blood and opened her eyes.
"Well..I guess it is easier second time around." She looked over at Grimm.
"Come on Eragon, we have somewhere to be, don't we?"
"We do..." I held out a hand and she took it, getting to her feet.
I took a moment to think of a spell, and then I looked at Grimm. It was more of a sentence, but it would do the trick.
"Be healed, mend bone and muscle and scale, be strong, Grimm bright scales."
As the words took effect I felt even more drained, yet Saphira lent me some of her strength.
The bite mark on his neck, as well as the gouges on his side and back began to heal themselves, until it was as if there had never been a fight in the first place.
Once he was healed, Saphira let him up, and to my surprise he took a few steps forward, before lowering his head to look at me.
Eragon. Do not ever let her do that again, or I swear I will bite off your right leg.
I won't. I swear it. I replied. Seeming satisfied, he stepped over me and bent down so that Iara could climb onto him. Bareback and without a saddle, same as the day we first met.
Saphira? I asked.
You already know my answer.
So you agree with him?
I agree that he will keep his promise. He meant every word.
Then let's go kill this bastard so he doesn't have to.
