You said you didn't want things to change,
That you believed nothing would be different.
But I should have known better.
No matter how hard we try,
It will never be the same.
You said you wanted to stay close friends,
That you'd still always be there for me.
But I should have known better.
No matter what you said then,
It won't matter at all later.
You told me that you would never hate me,
That you would always care for me in some way.
But how could I be so stupid to believe it?
No matter what you prove to me,
I won't be able to completely believe it.
You said things to make me feel better,
To assure I wouldn't be upset.
But you should have known better.
No matter what you felt towards me,
I still loved you and that ended up breaking me.
I said that things would be different no matter what,
To let you know you can't come back from this.
But you should have listened.
No matter how hard you still try,
I know you won't mean all of it.
I told you that I meant everything always,
And I learned that your words were empty for some time.
But you shouldn't have lied to me like that.
No matter if you redeem yourself,
I won't be able to forget it.
I told you that I loved you,
And once upon a time you loved me too.
But you said you lost feelings,
That I couldn't change.
But you just didn't understand me,
You didn't accept my flaws.
Even when I saw little wrong in you,
And accepted the few things that were,
You couldn't do it in return.
You told me that you'd always love me,
That I was your first for everything, an unforgettable person.
But I should have known better.
That not all nice things last.
Our love was beautiful while it lasted.
But like like all flowers, it has to die.
I just hoped it wasn't so soon,
Or that my heart would be the one
That's shattered into more than two.
