As I sift through these photos,
I see all that used to be.
The person that I was...
Is changed beyond recognition.
For to look back on myself,
Is to realize things could never be the same.
As I look at ghosts that haunt me,
I'm reminded of those I once loved.
The friends that I once trusted...
Have no place in my heart anymore.
For to go to them again,
Would break me more than it has before.
As I gaze upon our smiles,
I can't help but wipe away a tear.
The men who said they loved me...
Did not know what love truly was.
For to wish to love them again,
Would be wanting something that was never real.
These photos are forever,
But oh how memories fade.
They say a picture holds a thousand words,
But I am left with nothing to say.
For their secrets and lies,
Have left me in a prolonged silence.
But in such silence,
I have found peace...
Peace of what once was,
Peace of who they truly are,
And peace of who I have become.
