I travel these back roads,
With the distant thought of you in my mind.
Through the dark we sped,
To reach the movie theater.
Only for you to give me your jacket in the rain,
And kiss me as the drops rained down around us.
I listen to that one song,
With the distant voice of you singing along.
In the heat you laughed,
To get me to sing along,
Only for you to silence me with your stare,
And tell me how beautiful I was.
I look at your sweatshirt,
With the distant picture of you in my mind.
During the cold you handed it to me,
To keep me warm
Only to pull me closer to you,
And keep me warm with your touch.
I hear your words in my head,
With the distant memory of the way you spoke.
Through the screen I heard you,
To tell me what you needed,
Only to break my heart,
And leave me without a reason why.
