It was only to light her candles,
But she was burned too many times.
So they took her matches away,
Telling her,
"Playing with fire is a dangerous game to play."
It was only to clean herself,
But she was bloodied too many times.
So they took her razors away,
Telling her,
"Playing with razors is a dangerous game to play."
It was only to feed herself,
But she had too many scars on her hands.
So they took her knives away,
Telling her,
"Playing with knives is a dangerous game to play."
It was only to cut up her papers,
But she had too many wounds on her legs.
So they took her scissors away,
Telling her,
"Playing with scissors is a dangerous game to play."
They sent her to play in the forest,
But they didn't know of the lighters she grabbed.
So she continued to play with the fire,
Never learning that,
"Playing with fire is a dangerous game to play."
But she continued on her way,
Until it was dark.
And the only thing to see
Was the flickering burn of the lighter.
As she waved it through her fingers
And brought it onto her body,
Fully aware that,
There were much worse games to play.
