Were you ready?
For me to move on,
For me to be happy,
For me to not want you back?
Were you ready
For me to recover?

Will you be reminded?
Of the things that used to be,
Of the things we used to do,
Of the jokes we used to share?
Will you you be reminded
Of who we once were together?

Will you remember?
The endless nights we shared,
The happy kisses we tasted,
The joyous memories we created?
Will you remember
The times that used to be okay?

Will you be ready?
For the day that I move on,
For the day I find someone new,
For the day when I no longer rely on you?
Will you be ready
For the day everything changes?

Will you be hurt?
When I continue on with my head high,
When I laugh without your help,
When I smile without hearing your voice?
Will you be hurt
When I no longer need you to be happy?

Will you be surprised?
That I don't talk to you like before,
That I don't try hard to please you,
That I don't need your approval anymore?
Will you be surprised
When I venture on my own again?

Will you still care?
When I don't come to you anymore,
When I go to someone else with my troubles,
When I forget to stay in touch.
Will you still care
When I need him more than I need you now?

Will you miss me?
When you see me happy with someone else,
When you see me loving him,
When you see me laughing harder than with you?
Will you miss me
When you see me and realize it's too late?

Because I'm still in shock, but the process of moving on has begun. And I don't need a man to make me happy when I make myself happy. And that is important to remember.
