Guess Who's Back

SO THE WINNER TO THE MINI-CONTEST IS basicgirlxx ! She guessed Brianna and was right! She has a story up called 'The New Girl' and so far it's really good! You guys should check it out, it's really impressive.

Chance

"Oh... hey, Brianna - what're you doing here?" 

I awkwardly rub the back of my neck, mildly blushing at the fact that I was about to shout at her.

"Chance! Thank god, I got the right address. I've been meaning to talk to you. Can I come in?" She then strokes the head of something near her leg.

I look down and notice Jasper, I've never said a word to him yet.

Not sure if I'm ready to meet him.

I swallow a lump in my throat as I gesture for her to come in.

"Thank you so much." She makes her way to the living room and settles down

"Um, I'm sure you've noticed Jasper. He's my son... and biologically yours too." I wince as she says that

"I understand that you must be a bit shocked and confused maybe? Me, just showing up randomly. But... the reason I came to Philly is because I wanted Jasper to have a father." I widen my eyes and look up at her

"I know! Still shocked and confused? But... Chance, remember all the good times we've had together. We were so happy, until this little one came and complicated things. I'm sorry I overreacted and I'm sorry that my dad made us move away. Y'know how parents react to teen pregnancies. All I'm asking Chance, is that you give me another shot - and give him another shot at having a dad." 

I of all people would know how it feels to grow up without knowing who your parents are and I don't want to be the cause of that kind of pain. But, I don't want Brianna back in my life - I don't love her anymore and I have Ruth now. I'm complete

"Listen, Brianna - I did miss you when you left junior year and a bit of senior year... but I'm over that and-" 

I get interrupted when Ruth walks into the room slowly. Brianna instantly looks up at her and widens her eyes.

"Oh, my Gosh! I didn't know, Chance I'm so sorry! What was I thinking, barging in on your life like this... I'm so stupid! You already have a girl in your life and look at me!" She buries her face in her hands and Ruth gives me a confused look

Ruth

I walk into the living room to see who came over since Chance was taking ages to come back. I see a girl around our age sitting next to Chance and Chance saying something to her.

When she starts apologizing I become even more confused. 

"Ruth... hey, this is Brianna. My ex." Chance holds his hand out for me to sit next to him and I do

His WHAT. 

His ex? Why is she here? What does she want? WHO is that little boy?

I look Chance in the eye in a way to say "Could you please explain?"

"So.. we dated junior year back in high school and it didn't exactly work out, I guess." He glances over at the little boy but I'm just not getting it.

"Okay, what Chance is trying to say is... I got pregnant with Jasper and left the country." Brianna explains

Um, lady - Chance can speak for himself.

Well, this feels like I'm in an episode of 'Glee'

"Ruth meet Jasper, my son." Chance awkwardly tries to smile

Did someone just stab me?

His SON? When... how... okay, I'm done.

I quickly shuffle out of the room and I hear Chance sigh and try to follow me

I lock my bedroom door in his face and belly flop down onto my bed.

WHY... just WHY can't my life NOT be a constant drama?

Brianna

When Chance comes back into the living room, my heart breaks. He looks stressed out and sits back in his position

"Look, Brianna - I've moved on... and I... I'm with someone else now. I'm sorry, I think you should go now." 

"Oh...uh, I understand. I'm sorry."

I grab Jasper's hand and lead him out the front door.

Boy, did Chance make a mistake
