"LAST DAY OF SCHOOL! WOOOH, OUR TWO YEAR SENTENCE IS OVER!"

Chance jumps onto my bed shouting

I throw a pillow at him and check the time, 8:00am.

I'm so glad this is the last time I have to wake up like this.

He chucks the pillow back at and hits my head.

I give him a look as if to say 'I don't know why I'm still with you.'

Even though I spoke last year to Chance, I haven't said a word since. It's definitely unlocked something because I know I definitely can speak now.

It's just I'm not used to it.

I get ready and make us both breakfast.

"What's your plan for the last day?" Chance wraps his arms around my waist from behind as I continue to fry the eggs

I shrug my shoulders in a teasing way

"You don't know, huh? Yeah - of course. I mean, I wouldn't know too. You know, because I have no idea what I normally do in the day. I'm not sure if I'll even eat dinner today." He mocks me and I "accidentally" drop his half-fried egg.

I hold my hand to my face in pretend shock and he looks down at the floor... almost sad

"My egg." Then he kneels down next to it and buries his head in his hands

I roll my eyes and pour him some cereal

"Oh, so you get an egg and I have to have cereal?" He stands up slowly, eyeing the frying pan with my egg in it

I notice this then grab the pan

"Oh, no you don't!" I say and run to the living room with it

"Oh, yes I do!" He runs after me and I run around with him chasing me

After about five minutes of our egg war, he finally gives in and eats the cereal.

"Good boy." I pat his head and he growls at me like a dog

"Any plans for vacation?" Riley walks into the cafeteria with me at lunch

I shake my head at her and grab a bowl of granola

"Spending time at home with Chance?" She smiles

I nod and smile even wider

"Awesome, I'm going on a family holiday to the Bahamas..."

Riley continues to talk about her whacky family and how her parents are planning a divorce because of her dad's affairs.

I'm happy for her, she isn't sad about it. She's glad that now her mom can really go out and find the one.

After school, I arrive back home and see that the TV's on.

The news, something about an author doing a signing in the town square.

When I get a closer look, I see that it's John Green!

Oh, my god, he's like THE BEST author in the history of the freaking world.

I love his books, I'm actually living for them.

I run to my bedroom and scramble around for my 'The Fault in Our Stars' novel... but it's NOWHERE.

"Chance!" I shout his name and look around for him

He's not home.

Then, the front door flies open and Chance walks through the doorway.

"Hey... what's up? I could hear you calling my name all the way down the hall." He walks into my bedroom where I am and stands near the bed

"What're you looking for?" he sits on the bed where I'm looking just to annoy me

I push him off and he falls to the floor.

"Oh, look - your book's down here. Remember, the one you were reading when we first met?"

I remember:

"Hm, a pretty girl in my bed without even asking. I know I'm hot but wow."

Huh

I look up from my book startled and see... everything. I think I know the meaning of life now.

There, a tall olive-skinned heap of muscle and hotness. In other words, there was a cute guy standing in my doorway.

Oh sweet Jesus

THIS is my roommate?

I quickly look up and see him holding the book I was looking for this whole time.

I grab it and flip through it, to make sure it was suitable to show to JOHN FREAKING............................ CEN.... no, just kidding. John Green.

Until, I notice something on the front page.

My name, in writing. In handwriting, I recognize.... in HIS handwriting.

In John Green's handwriting, what...?

I look over to Chance and he's just smiling at me.

I flip the page and see the word 'Will'

'You'

'Marry'

'Chance'

'?'

I drop the book and I look over to Chance and see him on one knee - holding out a ring - well two rings.

I inspect them and I read what they say, the one for me reads:

'Friend'

A tear rolls down my cheek, he must've spoken to my mom.

My name in Hebrew means friend, and my mom gave it to me because when I was born - the doctor banged his hand on the edge of the bed and I stopped crying, reached out for it and kissed it.

Also, my family has some Jewish heritage.

My eyes drip with tears. My walls, the walls that hold me up, make me strong just... collapse. Moment by moment, they fall. Salty drops fall from my chin, drenching my shirt. Perhaps these tears will help wash the feeling out.

I don't want to read his one, or it'll make me look even more like an idiot.

"I'll be your Chance"

He says and I look at him in his eyes. They're soft but somehow stern at the same time, he's loving but serious. The look he gets when he wants something, and he's determined to get it.

I can't even speak.

I hold onto the bed for support, my knees can't function properly. He's melting me.

I try and let out a nod, and he gets the message.

His eyes immediately light up as he rushes over and pulls me into his body.

Before I know it, his lips smash into mine - them molding together in perfect syncopation. As if someone choreographed it beforehand.

Then, reality hits me.

I'm engaged to Chance Parker.
