Housemates (COMPLETE)

Arrival

"Ruth, I know it may seem that college  won't work out for you because of your difficulties but you're a beautiful, smart and amazing girl behind the silence. And everyone will see that once you spend enough time with them. I'm not saying it won't be hard in your circumstances, because you will have to work a little harder than everyone else but you can do it. Because I know my little sister."

Sienna said this to me just as we left the town line.

She couldn't see it but that really did make me happy.

It didn't make the fact that I have to share an apartment with some random guy I've never met any easier but it made me feel good.

I wonder if she's filled him in with all the details and precautions like I was some kind of pet he's looking after.

We'll just wait and see...

Sienna parked outside my new apartment building and walked with me in the lobby and up the lift.

My stomach felt really weird.

I really didn't want her to leave me. What if he's some perv? Or he has a criminal record? Sienna says she knows him and Sienna only associates with the finer class so he must be decent. Maybe even posh....

We arrived at the door and Sienna looked at me.

"It's okay Roo."
Only my mom calls me Roo. She then pulled me in for a hug.

Ever since I was little I've always had a problem with communication as you already know. But I don't mean speaking this time. I mean, showing emotions. I've never understood it. And I've never done it. I've never laughed, cried, smiled. I just have a resting poker face.

Of course I have emotions though.

Sienna gently knocked on the door but nobody answered so she just used my key to open the door.

The apartment was very clean, as if no one has ever touched it. I felt like just by looking at it something would fall out of place.

"Wow... decent" Sienna grinned "This place is perfect for you."

You know, I was actually starting to think so.

Sienna smiled at me again, trying to look into my eyes.

I don't make eye contact

People try

And fail

I just don't

Walking into the doorway felt like opening the door to the light as if I was dead or something...

The white plush sofas of the living room with the silkiest leather pillows I have ever seen. The glimmering marble - based kitchen looked like I could cook up The Powerpuff Girls in it. I wanted to explore more but I wanted Sienna to leave first.

"HELLO! IS ANYONE HERE?" she shouted

We waited for an answer

I guess he wasn't home.

"Now Ruth, if you have any problems then you can just drive over to mine. We've gone over the route plenty of times. I think I'm going to leave now. I love you Roo and so does mom. Dad is definetely so proud of you smiling down from above. Bye Roo." She blew me a kiss and left the apartment.
