The Doctor's P.O.V

Hello old friend, and here we are. You and me, on the last page. By the time you read these words Rory and I will be long gone. So know that we lived well and were very happy. And above all else know that we will love you, always. Sometimes I do worry about you though. I think once we're gone you won't be coming back here for a while and you might be alone, which you should never be. Don't be alone, Doctor, and do one more thing for me. There's a little girl waiting in a garden. She's going to wait a long while, so she's going to need a lot of hope. Go to her. Tell her a story. Tell her that if she's patient the days are coming that she'll never forget. Tell her she'll go to sea and fight pirates. She'll fall in love with a man who'll wait two-thousand years to keep her safe. Tell her she'll give hope to the greatest painter who ever lived and save a whale in outer
space. Tell her this is the story of Amelia Pond. And this is how it ends.

She's gone.
They're both...gone.
"The girl who waited and the last centurion," I tested their nicknames on my lips, hoping to get a small flicker of happiness, but I was only met by the weight on my heart doubling.
A tear slipped down my cheek that soon turned into a waterfall.
They're gone.
Dead.
I decided to go back into the Tardis and start her up. Soon I was sitting on the edge, legs dangling over, looking down on the Earth. I felt weightless, empty, like I could step out and float down to Earth like a feather.
I am the Doctor and yet I couldn't save my companions, partners, my best friends. I'm a time lord and I have saved countless worlds, galaxies, even universes and still I couldn't save these two people.
Two People.
I listened to the billions of souls on Earth. Laughing, crying, happy, sad. Still with no idea of the dangers that they would encounter if they went beyond their world. How many  cultures, species, worlds that are out there and how many I have saved.
I vowed to help keep civilisation safe and help people a long time ago. But I feel like the ones closest to me always manage to slip through my fingers. Because anyone who knows me is in danger and I can never keep them safe. It's as if meeting me is a death sentence and no matter how hard I try I can't save them.
I listened again, mesmerised by the sounds of these humans living their lives. I, to this day, still don't know why I have a fascination with humans.
Then I heard it. A young girl screaming "PAPA!," A piercing scream, "PAPA AHH PAPA", Louder than all the other cries of children or anyone in the world echoing in my mind. Heartbreaking. Even more than I could feel with two hearts. I couldn't ignore it. I started up the Tardis, once again hoping this would take my mind off .... I can't even say their names. The Tardis unsteadily landed in a forest. After walking for five minutes in the uniform tree line, I saw a tall fence surrounding an ominous brown building which somewhat resembled a prison. There were no windows, only wire mesh lining the entire building and hard concrete pillars in between.
Surely the girl I'm looking for couldn't be in here?
