Alphys slowly opened her eyes to the darkness that surrounded the room. There was never a morning light to wake up to. But she and everyone else underground knew what to expect from that. The scientist felt for the switch along the wall and quickly turned it on. Her eyes squinted at the brightness, reminding the dinosaur of her glasses that were still attached to her face. They were slightly crooked but not damaged. She always kept a spare inside her desk draw just in case though. Alphys fixed them and looked from the corner of her eye. She jumped and gasped, not expecting to see her creation in the bed with her. His body was shut down, facing her with a bit of oil leaking from his mouth. The dinosaur giggled at seeing his drool and wiped it with the sleeve of her pajama shirt. If he were awake he would be freaking out. She didn't know what time it was but decided to stay up instead of falling back asleep. She noticed that he didn't take his shoes off or anything else for that matter. It didn't bother her in the slightest though as she shook his shoulder carefully. "Mettaton. Hey, wake up." The robot groaned and turned over on his stomach, wrapping the blanket around his metal body. Alphys sighed and crawled on his back, using her claws to run them through his hair. "Fine. Stay in bed all day. Guess you won't get to see Papyrus. He's usually up very early. Thought you might wanna stop by." Her son shifted on the mattress, hearing everything she said and wanting to see the skeleton. But he wasn't much of a  morning person and there was a show today at five. He needed as much sleep as he could get. Alphys crossed her arms and waited for a response. Mettaton turned his head towards her  to see her expression and frowned. "Ugh! Fine! Alright alright!" The star slowly got up, not caring that the scientist fell back on the bed with a thud. She huffed in annoyance. "What time is it?" He asked. She looked at her clock on the nightstand. "8:10."
"What?! Its way too early! A celebrity like me should get some beauty sleep." Alphys rolled her eyes and playfully shoved him off the bed and onto the floor with her bare foot. The sound of metal hitting against the tiled ground vibrated around the room, making her laugh out loud. She heard a growl coming from her creation as he got up and bit the end of her tail. "OW!!!" He knew how sensitive it was to pain. Mettaton laughed back at her and made his way downstairs to clean himself up in her lab. She pouted and followed, putting her bed back into a cube until she needed it later on tonight. "That hurt you know." The dinosaur said under her breath as she dug in her various draws, looking for a cup of instanoodles to eat for breakfast. The star layed across her desk and shrugged. "So did falling face first onto the floor. But you don't hear me complaining." Alphys glared daggers at him while putting the food in the microwave. She held up her bruised tail to show him the bite mark. "Look. Now its starting to bleed because of you." The robot stared and grabbed it, lightly kissing the wound for her but also placed a bandage on it. She blushed and smiled. "Is it better now Mom?" He hadn't meant to really injure her, he was only teasing. And he knew that she wouldn't harm him either. Alphys pulled Mettaton down to her height to kiss his metal face multiple times, making him flustered and blush a bright pink. "Yes. Are you better?" He closed his eye and nodded, standing upright again. His words getting caught in his throat. The scientist coughed and stumbled over her work, trying to collect her papers. There was a loud high pitched beep that made them both jump. "Hehe....th-the noodles are d-done." The small woman quickly took them out and placed them next to her. "Are y-you uh....hungry?" Mettaton pursed his lips and narrowed his eye, thinking. He could never really tell if he was or not. His 'stomach' never growled like how everyone elses did. It didn't let him know when it was time to eat. He just chose to eat whenever he wanted to. He merely shrugged, telling her that he could do without. Alphys grabbed a handful of nails that were casually laying around and passed them to her robot who took them in his hands. He stared at the shiny tools and popped one in his mouth. The sound of metal against metal could be heard throughout the lab as the scientist looked through her notes. She was use to the noise as he chewed another one. There was no real taste to it but he liked the crunching sound it made. It didn't hurt as it went down either. "Hmmmm. I've made sketches of another form for you in case one day you would have to....um....battle against someone. But someone truly murderous if it comed down to it ya know?" Mettaton raised an eyebrow and slipped the rest of the nails in his pocket for later. "There's a murderer on the loose?" Why was she bringing this up? They've never talked about this before. He didn't even know about this new body. He was fine with this one. "N-no. I mean if....if it came down to it. Not e-everyone is good. H-here. Look over it and tell m-me what you think." He hesitantly took the blueprints and scanned the sketch. 'Mettaton Neo' it read. The form still looked somewhat human but extreme at the same time.  His right arm was a some type of canon while the other was normal. His hair was spiked to one side and out of his face, showing off the opening. She once told him about his other eye before. That it was there to help him fight. But never said anything more than that. He didn't understand why he would have to in the first place when there was never any danger. He could sense that Alphys wasn't telling him everything. The form had sharp pointy wings, the boots were the same way. He looked.....frightening.  If the star was being honest, he didn't like it. If his fans saw him like this....would they be okay with it? Would it.....scare them? Mettaton put the blueprint down and focussed on the ground. "Um....why Alphys? Why do I need this?" His mother rubbed her arm and bit her bottom lip. "Alphys? Alphys!!" She jumped and started to shake. "J-just in c-c-case!"
"But nothing happens here. Is something coming? Tell me." She chose to ignore him. He hated being ignored so he crossed his arms and looked the other way. "You know this morning isn't starting off so well. I thought we told each other everything. What else are you hiding from me?" Though she didn't show it, that comment struck her hard. It had tooken her forever to tell everyone the truth about her real lab. About the experiments. What really happened down there. But she couldn't tell Mettaton about this. 'I can't. Papyrus needs to tell him. I'm just preparing for the worst....I need to protect these monsters. Because I know I'm capable of doing such things. I want to tell you baby. I want to....but I'm not the one to do that.....' Her creation huffed at not being told anything and stomped into his room, slamming the door behind him. Alphys frowned and stared at the sketch. "I'm sorry....."
