Chapter 21

Mettaton looked behind him for the third time. It was official. Someone or something was following him. He had just left snowdin not too long ago and was now standing in a field with beautiful light blue flowers and fireflies. Whoever it was, he wasn't scared of them. 'Maybe I should have taken the boat home. But then I wouldn't get to use these fabulous legs of mine if I did.' He listened for another sound and heard tiny fast footsteps making their way over to him. He balled his fist and waited for them to get just a little bit closer. He wasn't scared at all as he turned with his fist raised high in the air. "What the hell are y-" But he stopped and gasped at the sight before him. There was a small creature staring at him with huge glimmering eyes. It looked like a child. The most shocking thing about it was that it had no arms. And not to mention how cute it was. The robot lowered his arm and raised an eyebrow. "Um..... hello. Are you lost?" The monster bounced on the balls of his feet with his mouth wide open. "Oh my gosh! Y-your Mettaton right?! I'm your biggest fan! My name is Monster Kid. I can't believe its really Mettaton! Mettaton! Mettaton! Mettaton!" The star chuckled as the child wagged its tail excitedly. It was only a kid. A baby even. Was this creature related to his mother? He reminded him of her in a way. "A fan of mine are you? Well aren't you just the cutest little thing?" The celebrity carefully picked him up. "Can I please have an autograph?! Your one of the coolest monsters I know!" This child was such a sweetheart. 'He's so innocent and silly.' The robot put him down gently and drew out a marker. "I am always prepared for these types of occasions darling." Monster kid could barely contain himself as his favorite celebrity marked his striped yellow shirt. Mettaton chuckled again and held him still as he bounced around. "There you go dearie." And with that he kissed the top of his tiny fans head. "Oh-oh my gosh! I can't believe it!" The child started to run around like crazy, almost trampling the flowers that surrounded them. He fell once, twice and once more as he did. The robot gasped and picked him up, carefully brushing him off. "Aww are you hurt little one?" Monster kid looked up at the star with sparkling eyes. "Y-you kissed me." He tired to stare at the mark on his forehead as he said this, wagging his tail again. "Where are your parents?" Mettaton asked. "I left them to follow you. I-I didn't mean to scare you. I'm sorry. But I couldn't believe that you were in Snowdin! I just had to follow you! Can I please come with you to wherever your going?! Please?!" "Only for a little. You shouldn't run from your home okay? Let's get nice cream and then I'll bring you back. But promise me that you won't do something like this again?" Monster kid nodded eagerly and tucked his legs in his arms to be carried to the stand. The trip wasn't a quiet one as the small creature chatted away about random things as they walked. Mettaton's mind was elsewhere though. This child reminded him of both Alphys and Papyrus in a way. Like some strange mash up of some kind. It was adorable really. He couldn't wait to tell his mom when she got back. She was honestly the best. And whatever experiments she did in the past didn't effect the now. He never thought differently about her when she told him. Not one bit. She was not an evil person in the slightest. His fans were everything to him and made up who he was. But so did his mother. The one that made his dreams come true in the first place. And as he stared down at the child who stared back, he realized just how much he loved her. Mettaton smiled and hugged Monster Kid tight as the nice cream stand came into view.
