Chapter 36

After both monsters cleaned themselves and awkwardly pulled their pants up and Mettaton fixing his hair they gave each other one last kiss. "I wish I could stay longer sugar skull but I have to go and do my show now. I'll See you later okay?" He winked and traced a finger along his chest. Papyrus blushed and stood still as he watch the robot walk away. "B-bye!" He yelled after him. He waved and smiled. The star looked back and licked his lips at him. The skeleton was swooned and almost passed out in the snow.

Mettaton stopped by his cousin's to gather the ghost himself along with Shiren. Sometimes the monsters did a show or two together every week. The celebrity knew that other's had dreams down here just like anyone else did. Not just him. He'd just wish that he knew that before. All three of them chatted away as they entered Hotland to get ready for the show. It was nice to have family around the robot. But in the back of his mind he knew someone was missing. And it was a shame that she wasn't there to encourage them all tonight. I guess she's too busy with Undyne or something......I'm sorry Mom. He would just have to put a mask on for the fans. It was the only way to make sure he didn't cry in front of all them. Napstablook noticed his cousin's lack of talking ever since they came inside the lab. He didn't even mention his new room to either him or Shiren when he opened the door. They were in complete awe at all the pink and glitter everywhere. But if you knew Mettaton then you knew he absolutley loves pink. Usually he'd be bragging about it. The ghost floated over to the star and gently placed his small tiny nubs on the robots metal back. "Is something bothering you?" He asked with a sad look. "Huh? Oh. Um....I'm just missing someone. I need to apologize to them is all." It was killing him inside. "Is it Dr. Alphys?" How did this smart little cookie know that? Mettaton smiled and hugged the monster close to his chest plate. "You know me so well Blooky. Yes. I don't even know where she is and we haven't spoken to each other since this morning. My best guess is that she's at Undyne's. Wish she were here though. I shouldn't have been such a jerk to her....." The star sighed and rubbed his arm for comfort. His focus wasn't on his show anymore but on the fact that he possibly hurt his mother's feelings without realizing it when it happened. She had even asked him where he was going before he left with Papyrus. She cared because if she didn't she would have never asked even after their little argument. And what had he done? Rolled his eye and slam the door shut, leaving her alone in the dark, saying nothing to her. He could feel the guilt crawling around inside his head at how rude he was. He was hurting his family again. Shiren moved over to the two of them and held up two different scarves in front of their eyes. "Which one should I wear for tonight's show? Oh......are you alright?" She dropped the accessories on the carpet and placed a fin on the robot's shoulder. Mettaton hadn't noticed but oil was starting to leak from his eye, staining his metal face. Napstablook wiped away the tears and snuggled himself in his arms. He didn't know what had happened but he did know that his cousin needed someone there for him right now. "Why don't you call her?" He suggested to him. "O-okay." He dug inside his pocket in search for the device but his fingers brushed against something else. He pulled out a handful of nails. For a moment the star couldn't understand why these were there but then he remembered earlier on today. That made matters worse as it reminded him of the situation. He quickly threw them on his bed and went inside his other pocket but nothing came out. "Oh crap! I think I left my phone at Papyrus'." Great. Now he couldn't even call her. Mettaton pouted and hugged his knees to his chest on his floor. The other monsters in the room frowned and went to his side. "I don't want to dissapoint the fans but.......I think its worse to dissapoint my mother even more." The robot hid his face as his body shook with sobs. It shocked them to see the star like this. It would have shocked anyone that saw the scene. He couldn't do this. He couldn't continue the show knowing that he hurt Alphys' feelings like that. If the audience that he entertained didn't understand then that meant that they were never his true fans to begin with. Mettaton sniffled and stood. The ghost wiped his tears away again. That little gesture made him feel somewhat better knowing that his cousin was always there for him. Shiren kissed his cheek and gave him a sincere smile. "Thanks guys. But I think I won't be going on tonight. I'm sorry. Think you two can handle it? I'm sure you'll do fine out there darlings. I really need to find Alphys and at least apologize to her." Napstablook nodded and lightly took his gloved hand in his tiny nub, leading him to the door. "We'll be fine Mettaton. We understand. Be careful okay?" He gave his cousin one last hug and watched as the star left Hotland to find his mother.
