We had one problem. The shaft that led to the floor below was a straight pit with nothing to hold on while climbing down and it will surely make noise and alarm the guards inside. We had no other choice than to retreat. It was like receiving a ticket to a plane that will surely crash and the only logical thing to do was to back out.
"Let's go. Let's do it." Nathan said boldly
"Are you out of your damn mind?" Lon said to Nathan directly to his face
"We'll go down fast and get out of the shafts through the nearest grille then we'll just find our way to Neil as quick as possible" Nathan said
We thought about it for awhile. We were dead silent there. Well, who wouldn't be if they were in our position? knowing that at least half of us will die or will be injured severely if we did it, was hard to accept. My heart pounded so hard in my chest that I could feel it in through my arms.
After a few minutes, all of the sudden, Nathan jumped down the shaft and created the most loudest sound I've heard in my life. It might not actually be that loud, but since we're inside the vents with him, It resonated out as very loud.
I quickly thought about it, If we stayed, we would be caught, so I thought that we might as well follow Nathan. I jumped down the shaft and it created more noise, eventually the others followed suit, until all of us got down.
We decided to remain quiet although we've already created so much noise. After awhile of creeping through the vents, we noticed that the fans from the ventilation system above have stopped, then after a few seconds, the alarms from below started blaring.
We started running after we heard the alarms. Eventually we got to the nearest ventilation grille. Lon reached for the tools in his backpack and he started trying everything if anything could fit to the odd shaped screws in the grille.
"Lon! Do it quick! There's a laser grid incoming!" A woman shrieked
We all looked towards from where we came from and we saw a precise blue laser grid coming our way. No wonder they shut down all the fans. Lon realizing that all the other screwdrivers weren't working, he took the sledgehammer and smashed the grille completely off.
The laser was just about 10 feet from us and is coming faster. Lon and Nathan were the first ones to jump off, then I jumped down and several more but the last one was too late. Only his decapitated body managed to get down while his head was cut off and sliced into indistinguishable molecular sized particles by the laser grid.
The image of that body stuck in my head was disturbing. I almost wanted to puke but I didn't eat anything last supper so I don't have anything to release. His lubricative fluids were flowing out of his cut veins into the flooring. I believe one of the women had vomited but I didn't see it because my sight was just stuck on his lifeless body and I can't get my head to turn away from it.
Then all of the sudden, someone was shot and that reminded us that we were out in the open corridors of the most secured places in the world. He was shot through his skull, leaving a hole on his forehead. It was a clean shot, I was shaking and trembling in fear. I wanted to start running but my legs were too weak after all that happened here in such a short time period.
My body was somehow startled and shocked as Lon pulled me as we all started to run for our lives. I could feel his hands also quivering and his hands were uncontrollably sweating and because of this, he had to occasionally re-adjust his grip, so that I wouldn't slip away from his grasp.
After awhile, I took his hands off as I finally could control myself, although I still staggered as we ran. Seemingly, after we turned at corners, when I look back, the number of soldiers that were chasing us keeps on doubling. After seeing this hopeless situation, I decided to leave the soldiers a gift as we ran.
"Turn to the nearest corner!" I shouted out as if we don't, we'll get caught along the blast of the bomb that I left on the ground as we ran.
Although we managed to clear off from the blast, we still felt the ground shook and It almost made me trip but I managed to catch myself. Eventually, I started to feel exhausted. We may be androids but Its hard to run around non-stop in such a large facility.
After running around, we eventually got to the "Phase 6" of the whole facility and here is where everything started to go wrong. We seemingly got to the edge of the building where there is a lot of space and the walls were made of glass.
We were cornered, armed soldiers were coming from both pathways to this room. We just waited there with our hands up in the air, knowing that its our demise. But after awhile, not a single soldier has come to apprehend us, instead a simple man has arrived.
He had a simple blue shirt with pants, far from the expected armors and helmets. We really didn't know what to do when we saw him. We thought that he was just a detainee who escaped after all the commotion from earlier, until he pulled a gun from his back pocket.
He just pointed the gun and shot it without hesitation on a man that was right beside me. I saw the bullet pass by. For a moment, I thought that I was the one who was getting shot. He shot him directly in the eye and since he was only shot in his eyes, he was screaming there for a long time before dying. It was dreadful moment.
We all pulled out our guns in fear and pointed at him, but he didn't seem bothered by this at all, so we decided to shoot him. In a split second, just before the bullets hit him, his arms became covered with an alloy sheet. That's when we realized that he's no ordinary human, nor android. He was one of those modified androids. When we thought of that, we took off our bag packs, preparing for a fight.
He managed to deflect all of the bullets that we shot at him. When we ran out of bullets, we went on hand-to-hand with him. But he was too strong. He blocked everything, from punches to kicks. As I went to punch him, he caught my fist, but not only my fist, but also Nathan's fist from the other side and he flipped both of us at the same time. I hit the hard ground, my head was aching and my vision was spinning.
After awhile, my vision got better and I stood up then I continued to help them. After countless thrown punches and after many attempts to even hurt him, we realized that we can't beat him without any sort of weapon, so I ran back to the bagpacks that we left to grab a knife and It seems that Lon has the same idea.
We were both sprinting to the bags. Just when he managed to grab an Axe, he was shot in the back by the Modified Android. He started malfunctioning, he moved and palpitated in an erratic manner. His pupils became small and red before becoming fully white, signifying the internal hardware death of an android.
After a few seconds, his battery exploded, creating a massive blast that blew everything off from that room. I got flown towards the window and outside. I fell from the fourth floor. It didn't cause that much pain as I fell onto thick snow. I saw everything. Flames engulfed the room and glass shards were scattered everywhere. Suddenly, a glass shard flew and dug onto my chest, it was extremely painful, causing my chip to automatically deactivate and cause me to sleep. Before I drifted off, the last thing I saw was the severed head of the lady who I thought, looked a lot like Hazel.
