chapter twenty eight :: lies and heart size

It had been a whole two weeks since Nicole last saw Josh.

He was in the studio recording with Tyler. They got a record deal and they were working on writing and recording songs. Josh and Tyler both missed a lot of school.

Jish bby 💖: could you ask my teachers for my work

Nicole 💕: I thought you were coming today ??

Jish bby 💖: I was but then they called us back in for tomorrow to edit songs and all

Nicole 💕: oh

Nicole 💕: when are you gonna be back?

Jish bby 💖: soon

Nicole 💕: positive?

Jish bby 💖: kinda

Nicole 💕: josh

Nicole 💕: I miss you

Jish bby 💖: I know I miss you too

Jish bby 💖: but if Tyler and I get bigger, this is what we're gonna have to deal with

Nicole 💕: but you guys aren't well known

Nicole 💕: you didn't make it yet

Nicole 💕: that doesn't mean you can just leave me in the dark

Nicole went to the school the following morning, staying completely silent and remaining to herself.

That is until lunch came around.

"Nic," Jenna said as she sat down. "You can't just mope around. I know Josh isn't here but," She shook her head. "This happens to me and Tyler all the time. It will get easier. I promise."

Nicole shook her head. "I'm good." She said quietly. Even though Nicole and Josh have been together for about three months and counting, Nicole still wasn't used to talking to Jenna.

"You're being quiet again." Jenna pointed out.

"I'm always quiet." Nicole responded.

"Not around Josh." Jenna ate a cold french fry.

Nicole was hesitant. "Because he's my boyfriend."

"And I'm your boyfriend's best friend's girlfriend so you're gonna suck it up and spend some time with me while Josh and Tyler have more dates than us." Jenna told her.

"I don't know," Nicole replied. "I don't really feel good."

"Nic," Jenna leaned closer to her. "Stop lying to yourself. You and Josh are gonna be fine. Just like me and Tyler are fine."

"But we're in two different relationships. How can you be sure?" Nicole questioned.

"Look," Jenna said. "We are gonna go out together and not think about our boyfriend's at all. Think about that band member that Tyler likes um- what's his name-" Jenna thought for a second. "Mikey Ear Oh?"

Nicole bit her lip through stifled laughter. "That's really wrong,"

"Whatever," Jenna waved her hand. "It will be great. Just me, you, and my mom's credit card."

"Fine," Nicole gave in. "Josh asked me to drop off some taco bell though, so we have to stop by there."

"Where are they practicing at?"
