Lessons
Shane came back with the supplies Herschel needed.
Otis didn't make it.
Carl had his surgery.
He was going to be okay.
It had been about a week since the operation.
He was slowly getting back on his feet.
Today, was the first day he was going to go outside.
He sat on the porch swing with Rick and Lori. They were just happy that he was alive.
Lori didn't seem like herself lately.
Katie could tell that something seemed off with her. Katie assumed that it was the emotional stress of Carl's operation.
That was up until she saw Lori throwing up every morning around the same time.
She slept in a lot later than usual.
She also urinated a lot more than she used to, despite the access to a lot of water.
Katie was suspicious of all this.
She payed closer attention to Lori after these realizations.
Katie had a hunch: Lori was pregnant.
Once Katie was sure of this, she went to confront Lori.
Lori was talking quietly with Glenn. She was giving him a list of things to get on his run.
The only thing Katie heard Lori say was "feminine hygiene section".
At this point, Katie was convinced.
The second Glenn walked away, Katie looked Lori right in the eye and said, "Were you planning on telling us that you're pregnant?".
Lori went pale.
"Wh-what? Wh-why would you think that?" Lori stammered.
"A mother knows," Katie said.
"How far along are you?" Katie asked.
"I-I don't know," Lori said.
"You were sleeping with Shane. Is it his? Or is it Rick's?" Katie questioned.
"How did you know I was sleeping with Shane?" Lori asked quickly.
"My tent was close to the woods so I heard and I was gathering firewood in the forest and walked in on you two one afternoon. I promise I kept your secret," Katie said.
Lori was quiet.
"I don't know whose it is... it's Rick's. It has to be Rick's," Lori said quickly.
"Okay then. It's Rick's," Katie said.
Lori nodded.
Katie went back over to the farmhouse to see if anyone needed her help.
