Katie continued to tend to Eugene.

Abraham leaned against the back wall.

Rick sat in a chair in the corner.

Rosita stood on the other wall, far away from Abraham because she was still upset over their break up.

Daryl walked into the infirmary and stood by the window.

Katie could tell he was upset.

She wanted to go talk to him and make sure he was okay, but she knew he would lie and pretend he was fine.

"Those antibiotics y'all brought back could have saved Eugene's life. Without them, this wound would have gotten infected," Katie said, trying to cheer them up.

Daryl didn't look away from the window.

"Denise did that," Daryl said gruffly.

"Yeah," Katie sighed.

Eugene started to cough.

Everyone rushed to his bedside.

"You here?" Rosita asked quickly.

"Present," Eugene said weakly.

"How are you feeling?" Katie asked.

"Like I just played an intense game of Dance Dance Revolution," Eugene said weakly.

"I really hope that's a good thing," Katie said uncomfortably.

Abraham walked up beside of Eugene's head.

"I was not trying to kill you. I was looking for a moment," Eugene said, apologetically.

"You found it," Abraham said, leaning his arms on the bed.

"Do you apologize for questioning my skills?" Eugene asked.

Katie's back was to the men so she rolled her eyes dramatically.

When Eugene made comments like that it annoyed her.

"I apologize for questioning your skills. You know how to bite a dick, Eugene. I mean that with the utmost of respect," Abraham said seriously.

Katie whipped around.

"What?" Katie asked, trying to stifle her laughter.

"Oh do I got a story for you later, sister," Abraham said.

Katie smiled.

"Welcome to stage two," Abraham said to Eugene.

"No need to welcome me. I've been here a while," Eugene said.

Katie had no idea what they were talking about, but it warmed her heart, nonetheless.

"You need some rest. We'll leave you be for a while. I'll be back soon to check on you," Katie said gently to Eugene.

Everyone started getting up and leaving.

"You ready?" Rick asked Katie, waiting for her at the door.

"I'll meet you at home in a few minutes," Katie said.

He nodded and left.

"Thank you for what you did out there, Eugene. You helped bring my friends home," Katie said kindly.

"I do not need thanks although they are genuinely appreciated. I am glad that someone around here appreciates my skill set," Eugene said.

"Don't flatter yourself too much," Katie said with a laugh.

"Get some rest. I'll be back later," Katie said with a small smile, patting his chest lightly.

She walked out of the infirmary and took a deep breath, taking everything in.

Denise was dead.

Katie couldn't believe it.

Katie walked off of the infirmary's porch and started off down the street towards her house.

She saw Abraham standing outside in the street in front of Sasha's house.

She was standing on the porch.

Katie stayed out of sight, as to give them their privacy.

She could only hear bits and pieces of their conversation, but she could tell by the look on Abraham's face what it was about.

Katie could tell that Abraham had feelings for Sasha.

It was all in his body language whenever they were together.

Katie hoped that they would get together.

They were perfect for each other.

She really wanted her friends to both be happy.

They walked inside the house together.

Katie internally hoped that they were going to hook up because they both deserved to score.

Katie walked back towards her own house and went inside.

Rick was in the kitchen, trying and failing to make dinner.

"This doesn't seem like a good idea," Katie said with a laugh.

"Shut up," Rick said sarcastically.

"Seriously. If the walkers don't kill us, your cooking will," Katie said with a laugh, walking into the kitchen and taking over.

Rick kissed her cheek lightly and retreated upstairs to get the kids.

Katie sighed.

Even though Denise was gone and that was horrible, things were looking up for Katie.

She was moving on from what had happened to her.

She was doing better.

She understood that it was just a part of her now.

The pain was gone.

It was just an understanding that she had now.

No pain, just understanding.

Things were good.

Katie and Rick were doing well.

Judith was growing up before their eyes.

It felt like just yesterday she was that newborn baby that Katie held in her arms back at the prison.

Carl seemed like he was getting better.

Katie knew he was struggling with his eye, but he was doing well, in a sense.

It seemed as though everything was going to be okay.
