Katie and Rick walked back towards their home.

Katie sat down in one of the rocking chairs outside.

Rick went into the house and brought Judith outside.

He sat in the rocking chair next to Katie.

They sat in silence for a moment, relaxing, enjoying each other's presence.

Katie looked up when she heard frantic yelling and running.

She saw Abraham running towards them.

She looked over at Rick, who was quickly standing up.

"Ambushed on the tracks. Denise didn't make it. Eugene's hit," Abraham said quickly.

Katie gasped in horror.

Denise was dead.

Katie couldn't believe it.

Not only was her friend dead, but the community's doctor was dead.

No one else had any medical experience.

Katie was trying to keep herself together.

She would move on.

She had to move on.

Katie's heart broke when she realized that Tara wasn't here.

Tara wouldn't know until she got back.

Tara didn't know.

Rick placed Judith into Katie's arms quickly and took off running with Abraham.

Katie ran into the house and up the stairs into Carl's room, which was always open because there was no time to fix the locks after Katie kicked the door in.

"There's been an attack on the road. Denise is dead. Eugene's been shot. I need you to look after your sister," Katie said quickly.

Carl got up from his bed and took Judith out of Katie's arms.

She ran down the stairs and out the front door.

She didn't stop running until she got inside the infirmary.

"Everyone back up. I may not have any medical experience, but I helped my ex study for his medical exams. So I'm the closest thing we've got to a doctor right now," Katie said, out of breath.

Everyone backed up and made room for her next to Eugene's bed.

"What have we got here?" Katie asked quickly.

"Gunshot. Bullet grazed him," Abraham said.

Katie lifted up Eugene's shirt and saw the wound.

It reminded her of when she got shot when the prison fell.

She had a good sized scar on her rib cage because of it.

"Looks like Eugene and I are going to have matching scars," Katie said.

Katie started cleaning off the bleeding wound so she could see where she had to stitch him up.

"Someone grab me a suture kit. They're in the cabinet," Katie said quickly, pointing to the cabinet.

Rosita ran to the other side of the room and grabbed a kit and put in Katie's outstretched hand.

Katie ripped it open with her teeth as she finished cleaning off Eugene's wound.

The bleeding had slowed.

Katie started to stitch up the wound, making sure that it was going to turn out better than when she stitched herself up.

When she was done, she sat down on the stool behind her.

She was exhausted.

"He's gonna be okay," Katie said tiredly.

Everyone in the room relaxed.

"So you said you had a scar. How'd you get it?" Abraham asked.

He loved a good battle story.

Katie looked at Rick before beginning the story.

"Before this place, we had a prison. It was perfect. It had two sets of fences. It was isolated in the woods. We had beds to sleep on. But, just like always, when you have something good, there's always someone out there who wants to take it from you. And they did. His name was the Governor," Katie started.

Abraham scoffed when he heard the name.

"I know, I know. It's cheesy as hell, but he was a scary bloke. Did some seriously screwed up things to Maggie and Glenn. But back to the story. He came with an army. We were outgunned, outnumbered. There was no hope. They were going to take the prison and kill us all. I was behind a pallet with my gun. I had killed a good number of men, but then one of their bullets grazed my side and I was down. I was bleeding pretty badly because of the location of the wound. I had to get out of there. As I was running, I saw Judith's carrier laying in the middle of the courtyard. The kids who were supposed to be protecting her had left her there to die. I grabbed her out and ran into the woods. We found a little house and I had to stitch myself up. That was painful as hell. It wasn't a pretty job either. That's why my scar is so big and messed up. Eugene here is going to get off lucky," Katie said.

"It can't be that bad," Abraham said.

"Wanna bet?" Katie asked, raising one eyebrow.

"I bet my left testicle," Abraham said.

"What if I wanted the right?" Katie asked sarcastically.

"Just show me the damn scar," Abraham said with a chuckle.

Katie slowly lifted one side of her tank top, revealing the large scar.

"Hot diggity damn that's an ugly scar," Abraham said in disbelief.

"Cute, huh?" Katie asked sarcastically, touching the scar lightly with her finger.

"If I thought you were a badass before, I definitely think you are now. Damn. Okay," Abraham said.

"What happened to you and Judith out there?" Rosita asked, making the mood more serious.

"Like I said we ran into the woods before the Governor could kill us. I thought everyone was dead. I thought that we were the only ones left. I thought I was alone. This was all before Rick and I got together, but I was like a damn lovesick puppy back then. I was kind of pathetic, really. I thought that he was dead and it was my responsibility to raise Judith all by myself. All that led me to do some pretty screwed up shit, but I don't regret it. I don't. It all happened for a reason. It made me stronger. It had to," Katie said honestly.

Everyone was silent for a moment.

"What did you do?" Abraham asked.

"Remember that ex I mentioned? Yeah, I found him and his group out in the woods. I killed about twenty unarmed people. And I did it all while holding a baby on my hip," Katie said simply.

Abraham and Rosita looked at her in shock.

"You. Are. A. Damn. Force. Of. Damn. Nature. Dammit," Abraham said.

Katie laughed.

"And y'all thought Rick was the crazy one," Katie said with a wink.

Rick chuckled in the corner.

Abraham looked proud as hell of Katie. He nodded approvingly.
