Haven

The group never stopped moving.

They raided every house they came across.

There was nothing left anywhere.

Carl found dog food in one of the houses. He was ready to eat it, but Rick took it away from him.

"We can't live like this for much longer, Rick," Katie said gently.

"We need shelter," Rick agreed.

The group moved again.

After what seemed like a lifetime of walking aimlessly, the group came up on a prison. It was overrun with walkers, but there were gates.

They could take this place.

It could be their safe haven.

"Rick," Katie said.

"Yeah," he said.

Neither of them had to say anything.

They both knew that this was it.

Rick cut through the gate and the group started killing all of the walkers.

He and Katie were positioned together in one of the guard towers.

Katie gripped the machine gun tightly.

Oddly, she liked the feeling of the large gun in her hands.

They both had big smiles on their faces because they knew that this was going to be good.

This was going to be safe.

This could be their new home.

Katie saw Rick smiling and laughing out of the corner of her eye.

It made her smile even bigger.

This was the happiest she had ever seen Rick.

Within the hour, the field was clear and secure.

The group would be safe here.

It was getting dark, so the group settled in for the night.

They sat around a campfire for a while.

"Katie, would you mind singing a song for us?" Beth asked quietly.

"What?" Katie asked.

"I've heard you sing while you do little tasks. You're good," Beth said.

Katie laughed.

"Okay. What would you like to hear?" Katie asked.

"That uh-uh Fleetwood Mac song you had on cd in your car," Glenn interjected.
