40. Babies First Christmas

I sat on the ground with the babies in my lap while Zach put up our Christmas tree. "Zach I am so excited! Its the babies first Christmas!" I said with a smile. "Ya I know." he said putting on the top of the tree.

"Well here's are tree." Zach said plugging the tree up. I got up and looked at the tree. "I love Christmas." I said handing John to Zach. "I thought Chris was suppose to be coming over?" I asked curiously. "He is gonna be a little late." he said with a smile.

"I don't like that smile." I said worried. Zach laughed and sat John in the play pin. I smiled when I heard a knock on the door. I put Joslyn on my hip and opened the door.

"Merry Christmas!" Monica and Minerva said at once. "Well Merry Christmas Eve." I said correcting them. I stepped aside and let them in.

"Merry Christmas sweetie." Minerva said taking Joslyn. "Where's JJ?" Monica asked. "He is in the play pin." I said pointing over to him.

"Layla can I have some help in here!" Zach yelled from the kitchen. I ran into the kitchen and saw Zach holding the ham. "Can you close the oven for me?" he asked trying to put down the ham. "Sure." I walked over to Zach and closed the oven.

"Did you take the sweet potatoes out of the oven?" I asked looking around the kitchen. "Yep there right here." He said pointing to the pan of sweet potatoes. "Minerva did you bring the mash potatoes!" I yelled from the kitchen.

Minerva walked into the kitchen holding a bowl of mash potatoes. "Yep here they are." she said with a smile setting them down on the counter. "And I brought the apple cider." Monica said walking into the kitchen and handing Zach the cider.

I looked at my two friends. "Wait where is the babies!" I said getting frantic. "Calm down they are in the play pin." Monica said. I let out a sigh.

"Well do you guys want to help put the ornaments on the tree?" Zach asked. "Sure." we all said. We walked into the living room and grabbed different ornaments. Some of Zach's and some of mine. We were almost done when there was another knock at the door.

"I got it." I said walking to the door. I opened the door and smiled. "Merry Christmas!" Joe said with a smile. I smiled and hugged him. "Merry Christmas! What are you doing here?" I asked letting him in. "I would not miss my niece and nephew's first Christmas for the world." He said with a smile.

"Hey bro!" Zach said smiling walking towards his brother. They both laughed and hugged. "Merry Christmas lil bro." Joe said with a smile.

We all sat near the Christmas tree and laughed and talked. Joe was holding John and Zach was holding Joslyn. I was talking to Minerva and Monica when I heard another knock on the door.

"Coming!" I said walking over to the door. When I opened the door I wanted to burst into laughter.

"Ho Ho Ho! Merry Christmas!" Chris said dressed in a Santa suit. I smiled and stepped aside. "Look who is here everyone." I said with a smile everyone looked up and laughed.

Zach got up and held Joslyn and John. I took John from Zach and smiled. "Look guys it's Santa." I said with a smile. Chris came over to us and the babies and smiled.

Before Chris could talk John and Joslyn started to cry. I laughed while we tried to calm them down. "Its ok its just Santa." I said trying to hand Joslyn to Chris.

Big mistake.

Joslyn started to kick and scream louder. I grabbed her back from Chris and smiled. "Great job Chris. Now my kids are afraid of Santa." I said giving Joslyn to Zach. "Hey it was worth a shot." he said taking off his beard.

"Merry Christmas everyone." Chris said happily. "Merry Christmas!" everyone said with a smile.

Chris went and changed into some normal clothes and then came back into the living room. He saw Minerva and smiled. He walked over to her and smiled. "Hi, my name is Chris." he said extending his hand to her.

Minerva looked up at him and smiled. "Im Minerva." she said shaking his hand. "Is this seat takin?" he asked. "Oh no." she said letting him sit.

Monica came back into the living room from the kitchen. She frowned when she saw Chris siting in her spot. She walked over to where they where.

"Hey your in my spot." Monica said firmly. "No your not! Monica can't you sit next to Layla or something." Minerva begged. Monica looked towards me and saw me sitting next to Zach.

"No she is sitting next to Zach." Monica said.

"Look I can just move..." Chris said getting up.

"No!" Minerva said.

"Yes!" Monica said.

I was tired of watching them argue.

"Time for dinner!" I yelled.

Minerva and Monica smirked at each other. "Your lucky it is time to eat." Monica said walking over to the table.

We all sat and ate dinner. We laughed and enjoyed each others company. After diner was over Zach and I got the twins ready for bed.

After the babies were sleep we opened gifts. Everyone brought gifts for the babies. There were baby clothes and rattles and Jon bought us a double stroller!

We put all the baby gifts to the side and opened our own gifts. Everyone got a gift but me. I did not mind it though.

"Layla I think there is a gift for you under the tree." Zach said with a smile. I looked under the tree and saw a tiny box. I smiled as I grabbed the box from under the tree.

I opened it and smiled. Tears came to my eyes.

"What is it Layla?" Chris asked.

I looked at Zach and smiled. "It's my engagement ring." I said showing everyone. Zach took the ring out of the box and slipped it on my finger.

He smiled and gave me a kiss. "Merry Christmas Layla."

"Merry Christmas Zachary."
