Lila's POV

"But why dad! I should have another week till I fly out!" I yell. Stomping my foot.

"Lila, I'm done. If your powers have already revealed themselves, you can't stay here! What if you accidentally set something on fire! What if someone gets hurt!" He tells back.

Tears sting my eyes,"Oh, I get it. You don't trust me. You think I'm going to hurt someone and I can't watch myself." I say, my voice cracking.

He sighs,"Lila, that's not what I'm saying. Look what it's doing to you!"

I stare down at my skin thats turning to ash in my anger. A glance in the mirror behind my dad. My hair flowing in flames. My eyes glimmering orange. Maybe I am a monster.

"No, I get it Dad. I'm a freak. You dont want your daughter like this do you." I whisper. I start for the stairs. He tries to grab my arm, but winces as my skin burns him.

He's right. It's better I leave early. I am a freak.

"Whatever Mom. I don't care anymore." I say as she closes my door. She has just come to ask what wanted for dinner, but I was to engaged in a conversation with Cristal.

"You're shitting me Tess. There's no way you have super powers. That's so dumb!" She exclaims.

I groan, knowing my anger might overtake me. I walk downstairs and out to the freezing pool. "I'm not joking Cris! Do I need to send you a picture?" I say, agitation itching me.

"No, I won't believe a picture. I'm grabbing the girls and coming to your house. I dont know why you'd lie about some thing like that. It's so stupid." Cristal insists.

I stomp, and notice me hands warming. "Whatever Cristal, meet me out back."

I hang up and put my phone on the table. My eyes begin to glow. I dont like knowing I'm a monster, but I feel obligated to tell my friends the truth.

And the fact Cristal won't even believe me! I try to calm a little, hoping the smoke curling off my head is blown away before they get here.

Mom peeks out the sliding glass door,"You ok sweetie? I'm making chicken and rice, are you ok with that?"

I nod,"Yah mom. That's fine. I'll be inside in like ten minutes," I reply. She smiles and shuts the door.

Almost on cue, Cristal, Lexi and the others walk over. "Ok lier. What did you want to show Me? Hair on fire? Ash for skin? I don't think so."Cristal snickers.

My skin begins to heat as she talks. She looks closely at my face,"Oh, and don't think I'm fooled by those stupid orange contacts." She rolls her eyes.

I feel my hair steaming, and Lexi gulps. "Um... Cris. I dont think she is lying." Cristal watches as smoke comes up, and my hair starts to light.

Her eyes widen,"Oh my god! Tessa I know you want to be cool but don't set your hair on fire! You aren't that pathetic, or are you?" She smirks.

"Oh my god! How can you be so rude!" I scream, any sense of holding back the flames gone. I feel as my skin is covered in ash, my hair flowing above me. The snow can't do anything to put out the flames.

Cristal screams like a 2 year old. "Oh!oh my God! I was so convinced you were a lier!" The others hide behind her.

So many thoughts dart across my mind, "And you still had the nerve to call me pathetic? You're a complete bitch!" I scream.

She rolls her eyes, "yah.  And you're a complete freak." I can't help it, I grab her arms with all my strength.  She screams as her skin no doubtedly burns under my hands.

It's like I can't control my anger, or my actions. "Don't you think this is hard enough on me  without being called a freak Cristal!" I yell in her face.

Tears stream down her cheeks, "I'm  sorry Tess! Just let me go!" She sobs.

She tears her arms from my grasp, and I scowl at her. Her arms are red and blistering, and I almost envy her pain. Even if I don't want to.

"You're a monster! I'm  calling the  police!  You'll get shipped to Area 51 and be with other freaks like you!" She yells, running to her car.

I think I've accepted  the fact I'm a monster now. Mom runs outside,"Tessa.  You're leaving now before the cops come." She says.

This is it. My new life starts now.
