Two In A Million

Chapter 25

I lay in bed, exhausted still from the day before. Karli came to my room, and fell asleep on Tessa's bed. We have school tommorow, but Tessa hasn't been seen for two days, and has been ignoring me via thoughts and texts.

I roll over, trying again to get a hold of her.

Tessa please. Where are You? You are scaring me.

Then a peculiar thing happens, she answers. Lila, I am sorry. The next time I see you it won't be so great. Get our friends to safety. I am sorry. So sorry.

I sit up quickly, so confused. Is... is this something to do with her being gone... and been planning some thing?

I shake Karli awake,"Go get the twins, Nadia, Molli, everyone. Tell them to meet me here. You got that?"

"Lila what's wrong?" She says, rubbing her eyes. "I will tell you when they get here. Just please, go get them. Tell them to bring as many of their things as they can carry."

She sits up and stretches, before running out of the room to get everyone. I sit with my head in my hands. This has to be something with Mom.

It starts to fall together. All those stray thoughts I have been hearing, Tessa always being gone. She is planning something big... and dangerous.

Rose is the first to get here. "Babe, what's wrong? Karli said it was an emergency!"

I glance up, a terrified look on my face,"Its Tessa. She told me to get all of us to safety. I think she is going to try and get my parents out of prison." I say, starting to pace. Rose grabs me and holds me still.

"Lila. Calm down. We need to figure out a plan of action."

I think for a second,"Tell the school. All of the younger kids have to stay safe. The older ones can fight. I just don't want anyone to get hurt... or killed."

"That's sounds like a great plan. Now sit down, wait for the others, and can explain."

Almost on cue, the twins, Nadia, Aaron and Molli walk in. I stand them all in a straight line, and shut them up.

"Ok guys. Here's the problem. Tessa, shes, um," I don't know how to not make her the bad guy,"She is going to break my Mom out of prison."

The room erupts in talking and arguing. "GUYS!" I yell. 

They go silent,"I am not positive, but we have to set something in motion. There is no way we can let anybody get hurt. I am going to assign jobs, is that ok?" 

"How are we going to defend the whole school?"Nadia asks, crossing her arms. 

"I think that you and Aaron need to go and warn the school. Tell them we need all of the older teens to get ready, they can't fight them alone. Molli, Karli, and the twins need to go get the little kids somewhere safe. I think I heard something about a safety bunker in the bottom of the school."

Once everyone goes off for their tasks, I fall onto my bed, holding my head in my hands. There is no way I can pull this off. There is no way I can hurt my own family.
