As Lafayette made his way outside, he saw Hercules sitting on a bench under a tree where they usually met at before school started.
"Hey," said the boy, standing up to hug him. Gilbert just nodded stepping back. "Why did you need to talk to me?" Lafayette questioned, searching his eyes for some sort of sign.
"Gilbert, what I'm about to say could not have been told to you with the others around. We have known each other for years, and I have helped you through many of your tough times. I have stood by you as a friend, but over the years, my feelings towards you have grown. I know I will be able to be there for you forever. What I want to ask is this. Would you, Gilbert Lafayette, take the honor of being my boyfriend? "He said, the hope in his eyes evident.
Lafayette had no idea what to say. Yes, his feelings towards this boy were strong, yet Gilbert did not believe he was ready for a relationship. What could he do?
