"No, but listen," she said. "If I can defeat it, then I'll be able to set all those people free."
"You mean those people that went missing over the years?" I asked.
"Uh-huh. That's why I want to go. I want to help them."
"No, you can't, especially not alone! Don't do this!" I was practically yelling.
"Someone hasta do it. Might as well be me."
"Why? Why do you want to do this?"
"Because all those people that are trapped--don't you want to do something about it?"
I sighed. "Yes, I want to do something. But Traveling during a full moon isn't the answer."
"Well, I think it is!"
We were both silent.
"Seth, I don't want to do this alone. But if you won't come, then I have no choice." Chloe said finally.
"You do have a choice: don't go. Wait another night. We almost got Lost when we Traveled during the last full moon, remember?" I said.
"But we didn't."
"Yeah, but that's 'cause we were together."
"I just can't stand the fact that there are people out there trapped. Plus, we can do something about it! I'm tired of this life, anyways!"
"Kids, what's going on up there?" My mom asked us.
"Nothing!" I said. I closed the door. I sat on my bed, across from Chloe.
"I need to do something. Now that I know, it feels like I have no other choice." Chloe said in a sad voice.
"Who told you this?" I asked.
"Rick. My mom and dad have also talked about it when they thought I was asleep. I've also done research."
When she said Rick's name, anger boiled inside of me. "Why are you listening to Rick, anyways? Have you two been talking?"
"No, we haven't. He only mentioned it when we chatted online."
"Now that I know, I don't want you to go alone and do this. Look, if you wait until tomorrow, then I'll go with you. I want to do something, too."
"Then go with me now. Tomorrow's too far away."
"Not really."
"Please! I know we can do it! Together we can stop this evil."
"How do you plan to do this?"
"We have powers, Seth! Like how we can morph into different animals. Imagine that...you have wings or something!"
I raised an eyebrow but imagined that I had wings. In a nanosecond, I had light brown wings that were fourteen feet long. I knew that I could do that. I--we--have always been able to do that. That was not new to me. What's her point, exactly?
"See?" Chloe asked excitedly.
I made the wings disappear. "So what? We've always been able to do that."
"But it's a special power!"
"Yeah, it is. So what?"
"If we can learn to use different weapons, then we'll stand a chance!"
I saw her point. "Yeah. That's quite true."
"Do you know how to use a sword?"
"Not really. I'm better with daggers."
