As we rode, the wind rippled through my hair. The rain was gone, but the wind wasn't. It was growing stronger. We had to get to Rosemary before she went underground from the bad weather. I yanked the reins back and my horse stopped. Jared pulled up right beside me, his horse halted.
"Is something wrong?" He asked over the roaring wind.
"Just checkin' our destination." I say, holding up the map.
Jared leans in closer. "So, about an hour more?"
"Seems like it."
I must sound really tired, because Jared says, "You wanna ride with me? I'll hook up your horse to mine."
Normally, I would refuse an offer like that and insist that I was ok. But now, that's the nicest thing I have heard all day. I consider the offer. I could get an extra hour of sleep. Not a bad deal at all.
"Sure." I say.
I get off my horse and get onto his. He hooks up my horses reins to his saddle. (They are very long reins.) He gets back on his horse, flicks the reins, and we're off. I really want to fall asleep, but I don't want to make Jared feel awkward. He seems to notice.
"If you wanna sleep, that's fine with me." He says.
"Um...ok." I see him smile then face forward.
So I rest my head on his shoulder. But I hold onto him too. I don't want to fall off. The wind is cool, almost perfect. Too bad they don't have a moon here. Anyways, as I drift into sleep, I relax. My whole body loosens up. Wow...this feels good...Then I drift into sleep.

Jared felt Chloe's head rest on his shoulder. He felt her body relax. She was tense, tired, and restless. Seth had told him how stubborn she was, how she would always insist that she was fine. He was surprised at how willing she was to just rest. According to Seth, that was a rare thing. He took advantage of the moment.
He listened to the howling wind, the horses' hooves, their breathing...everything. He shook his head and flicked the reins. His horse galloped even faster. He rode onward to this Rosemary person. He'd never heard of, nor seen her. He checked the map. He was going in the right direction.
Half an hour past. He was getting tired. Then he heard something: hooves. More horses? Out here? No way. He slowly turned around. He saw something running towards them. Whatever it was, it didn't look friendly. He started to panic. He shook Chloe.
"Chloe! Chloe wake up!" He says frantically.
She awoke with a start.

Once minute, I'm fast asleep. The next, I'm being shaken by Jared who seems to be panicking over something. I wake up without falling.
"What is it? What's going on?" I ask frantically.
"Something's headed towards us. They don't look friendly either." Jared says and points behind us.
Something is following us! But what? Who? No time for questions. I make Jared's horse halt. I quickly unhook my horse from his, and get on mine. I look back for a brief second. Now I'm scared.
"Run!" I yell to Jared. "Dammit, go! Go!"I flick my reins. "Hiyaa!"
Jared does the same.
We're racing off, away from these "stalkers" and go find Rosemary. Who would be following us? Seth and Rick? Not likely. Suddenly, a spear flies by my arms. It doesn't pin me down, it just cuts my arm. I grip the new cut. One hand on my bleeding wound, one on the reins.
