Chapter 51

Everyone is talking, almost out of control.

"Motivating." I repeat. "You'd better be careful about that. They could get outta control."

"Yeah, too much motivation will cause rash action and much anger." Firefly says.

"Hmm, you have a point there." Rick says, eyeing the crowd before us.

I whistle loudly and everyone stops talking and faces me. "Let's not get out of control here," I say. "Remember, we have a serious task at hand. If we show them that we're organized and systematic, then we'll look more threatening. But if we're rowdy and dysfunctional, then they'll laugh at us and won't take the fight seriously."

"Seth's right. If we can show them what we're capable of, then every time they talk of this, they will tremble with fear." Firefly says.

"You're just kids." Someone in the audience says. "Why should we trust you to lead us into a mission such as this?"

"Because we're the ones who came up with this battle plan. We're the ones who sabotaged the castle without so much as a scratch." Rick says

"And, we also took down a quarter of Eclipsa's army. We took out eight guard towers, and a few labs." I say, "We're the ones who started this thing."

"If it wasn't for us, then none of this would've happened."

"You're still a couple a kids." Someone says.

I'm so mad, I stand up and say, "We may be 'kids,' but we started this and we're gonna finish it with or without your help! I know my preference!"

"You're awful cocky." Someone else says.

"What's the matter with you people? We're offering you a chance to gain your freedom! Why won't you take it?" Rick says.

"Eclipsa has oppressed us for many years," Firefly says. "Now we finally have a chance to fight back and take what's rightfully ours! Eclipsa's time has ended! Stand up and fight!"

Silence.

"You call yourselves soldiers? I think you're just a bunch of scared babies." Rick says with disgust.

"You don't wanna fight! You just want us to do something for you! Well, newsflash: you need to help yourselves! We're not always gonna be here. You can't sit and wait around for someone to save you." I say.

"Why'd you even come if you're not even the least bit willing to gain your freedom? This is our chance to be free from Eclipsa forever! Why don't you take this opportunity and do something with it?" Firefly says.

"We're willin' alright." A man says, "But what happens after Eclipsa's done for?"

"It's up to you." I say. "We don't have all the answers."

"What happens to our families if we fail?" A woman asks.

"We won't fail." Rick says.

"We're in." They all say.

The whole tent erupts into chaos. All it took to motivate these people was a few harsh words and criticism. There's whoops and hollers everywhere in our tent. I can't believe we just did that.

"That was awesome!" Rick says to me.

"I never knew how motivating a few words could be." I say.

"We did it guys." Firefly says with a smile. "We're gonna win."

"You bet we are!" Rick says.

"What now?" I ask.
