Epilogue: Still Alive
She walked. Clementine was going to walk until her legs gave out from under her. She had lied to Lee. She had no idea where the train was. She had just wanted to give him the most peaceful death he could have.
She stood in a field. For as far as she could see, it was just tall dry grass. She had been right all along. The sweatshirt she was wearing had been stolen. She had taken it from a small boy, and drove a man crazy in the process.
The more pain she felt, the more she wanted things to go back to normal. To normal, except with Lee in her life. She had almost known all along that her parents might not be there, but she wouldn't let herself believe it. Lee was there as a shoulder to cry into. Now that shoulder was no longer there. Clementine was all alone.
Throughout the entire course of her life post-outbreak, Clementine had been looking more and more to Lee as a father. When she realized her parents were gone for sure, it was a huge shock. But at least she still had him. Lee had almost become a replacement for her parents, and he had died for her.
She sat down on a hollowed out log. She looked to the ground. There were a lot of rounds on the ground. She picked them up to load into her gun, but to her dismay, they were all empty, just like her only weapon.
The world had gotten so messed up. The dead were getting up, people had resorted to cannabalism for food, and the few people left were savage maniacs who would stop at nothing to end lives. The world was not the same anymore.
She spotted something on top of the hill in the distance. It looked like one person at first. Then, one of them ran in front of the other and she discovered it was two people.
Maybe it was Omid and Christa. Lee had told her to find them by the train, but this wasn't by the train. Christa had talked about wanting to get to the countryside.
But if this wasn't them, she could be throwing herself into another situation with a kidnapper like the one she had just fallen out of. Only this time, her guardian angel wouldn't be there to protect her.
Clementine still had one asset left to her name. She was still alive.
