Chapter 8

■■

The next day, there was a celebration. Guy had invited many people to tell them the good news, that I was to be his wife.

"Thank you for attending today. Before we make a toast, this fair lady, Evelyn, has consented to be my wife. Before I toast my future bride, there is something that I would like to present to her." Guy says, picking something up and walking over to me. He holds up a ring, showing it to me. "May I?"

I bit my lip as I held out my hand. "This means a lot to you, doesn't it."

"This means everything to me." He says, softly grabbing my hand. "You mean everything to me."

I smile as he slides the ring on my finger. Guy gives a sly a grin at the look of it on my finger.

"Lords and Ladies, I give you the future Lady Gisborne," Guy announces, holding my hand up to show the ring off.

Everyone gave a hooray, but that was suddenly interrupted by Guys cup getting shot out of his hand

Everyone gave a hooray, but that was suddenly interrupted by Guys cup getting shot out of his hand.

"Have we missed the speeches?" Robin questioned from above.

Robin's men came into the Manor. I managed to see the sad look on Allan's face which made me hang my head in disappointment.

"Hood, I don't remember inviting you." Guy calls to him, wanting him to leave.

Robin chuckled. "Since when has a man needed an invitation to his own house?"

"I don't know... since he lost all right to that house by becoming an outlaw!" Guy shot back, gritting his teeth.

"I would have declined anyway. My men and I are here on business. Please, everyone, if you could assist us by removing all your jewelry and valuables and handing them to that man over there. Much? And then proceed to that room where you will all wait quietly until we've gone." Robin explains. pointing to where he wants them to go and coming down the stairs.

"Do as he says," Guy ordered, so no one will get hurt.

I took the ring off and shoved it down my corset so that Robin couldn't take it.

There was a knock at the door which was their signal. Robin came over to me, asking if I had money.

"I do not carry money with me," I told him.

"That is wise." He takes my hand and looks at it. "No ring?"

"Nope. Not yet." I told him.

"You can leave now." Guy spat, drawing his sword.

I backed away as the two fought. Robin somehow stuck Guy's sword in Guy's sleeve, trapping him to a post. Guy strongly ripped his arm away, ripping his sleeve and showing his tattoo which shocked Robin.
