Chapter 10

■■

It's been about two weeks since the wedding and I decided to visit my dear husband at work in the castle. I rode to the castle in my best dress. When I arrived, the guards let me in with slight hesitation. I gave my horse to one of them and went inside the castle. I walked around, searching for Guy. When I couldn't find him, I went to the dungeon, thinking he might be there. But I was stopped by a guard, who threw his arm out, touching my chest.

"Oy! You can't go in there." The guard said, pulling me from the door in a rough manner.

I glared at him. "Do you not know who I am?" I spat at him. "I'm Lady Gisborne! Let me pass!" I demanded, trying to get to the door. My hand was on the handle, but the guard shoved me away once more, locking the door.

"I'm sorry, I can't let you pass."

I finally hit the guard with my fist and growled at him. Turning around, I looked to the left and saw no one. Turning around to the right to leave, I ran into a stone wall of a man. A squeak left my lips as I tightly closed my eyes, preparing myself to fall to the ground.

Strong hands gripped my shoulders. "Hey, it's me." A familiar voice spoke.

I opened one eye and was surprised to see Guy. Opening both eyes, I quickly wrapped my arms around his neck, kissing him.

"What are you doing here?" He asked me.

I stepped back and shrugged. "Can't I come and see you because I want to?"

Guy smiled and picked me up since I was too short. "Oh, I love you, My Lady Gisborne." He mutters before kissing me again.

I giggled as we touched our foreheads and noses together. "I love you too."

Guy set me down. I could see a bright gleam of happiness shine in his eyes. The way he looked at me, I could tell he was truly happy. And to say the truth, I was happy as well.

"When will you be home?" I asked him.

Guy grinned. He loved to hear my voice, I guess. "Once the blanket of night falls." He places his fingers under my chin. "Work for the Sheriff is never over, my love, you know that."

I moved my gaze to the right. "I know. It's just... I miss you." I jumped up and grabbed his hands, holding them close to my chest. "I want to spend time with my dear husband."

Guy pulls me close and kisses me. "I'm glad that you've excepted my mistakes."

I moved my left hand up and placed it on the side of his face. Then I stood on my tippy-toes and we kissed again. "Will you come home to me or do I have to go home myself?"

"I have work."

I groaned. "Fine! I will ride home in the light rain."

As I was about to go, Guy pulled me back and kissed me once more.

On the way home, I began to think of Allan. I missed his funny and childish jokes. The way he smiled at me. I missed his deep blue eyes and the way they made me feel when he looked at me. I missed him so much. And as if on cue the rain started to fall heavy. I shouldn't be missing Allan, but I did and it hurts to know that I'm married to Guy, who I love, but yet my heart yearns for another man.

"You got to be kidding me!" I gritted my teeth.

I pulled my hood over and grabbed the reins tightly. As the horse trotted, I could see two figures in the distance. They were sitting down next to a giant rock. I bowed my head as I approached them.
