Chapter 1

I was close, but not too close for I didn't want the deer to see me. I drew back my arrow, took a deep breath, and was ready to let it fly. That's when a twig snapped behind, scaring the deer.

I chuckled and turned around. "Fancy seeing you here."

"You know you're not supposed to be hunting on the sheriff's land. If you don't leave, I'll have to take you to the castle dungeons. You know the price of a sheriff's deer is a hand." Guy says with a husky voice.

I sarcastically laughed. "Why should I listen to your warning?"

Guy rolled his eyes in annoyance, but they soon softened. "I don't want to see you missing a hand or worse... hanged."

"But you won't mind seeing me burn to death," I coldly told him.

"It was not my fault!" Guy shouted out of frustration.

Just then a guard grabbed my arms and tied my hands together.

"Take her to the dungeons," Guy coldly ordered.

I growled as I was being pushed passed him.

The guard threw me into a cell when we arrived at the castle.

"Hey, pretty thing." An old man shouted at me from the cell, across from mine. "Why don't you show me something good?"

"Go to HELL!" I spat at him.

I wrapped my jacket tightly around myself and sat down in the corner of the cell. Good thing I was wearing pants because it's a bit chilly for a dress down here. Personally, I don't like dresses. They make it hard to move around. I like my pants, shirt, and cloak or jacket. Wearing that makes men turn there heads the other way. Which is a good thing for me because I don't really like people. Especially cocky ones that think they're the best, like Guy. Just the thought of him!!!

"Ugh!" I shouted, standing up and hitting the hard wall. "I hate him!" I shouted, hitting the wall again and again and again.

I looked down at my hand, it was broke open and bleeding. Taking out a piece of cloth from my pocket, I wrapped it around my hand and fell to the ground.

I'm gonna die in here with nasty old rags shouting at me.

"Evelyn?" A deep voice said.

I looked over at the cell door.

"Sir Guy."

"Evelyn, if you listen, you can get out of this," Guy says quietly.

I crawled over to the door and glared up at him. "I will never listen to you!" I spat, gritting my teeth.

"I'm giving you a way out. Be my wife. I'll give you things that you've never had." His voice was filled with desperation.

I dropped my head, then looked up and softly laughed. "Why would I do that? I'd rather die in the pit of Hell than to be with you. Don't you get it?" I questioned, standing up, I ran my hands up the cell bars and rested my head in between them. "I hate you! What you did will never be forgotten. I will never forgive you!" I pulled myself away and stood in the middle of the cell. "I think it's time to move on, Guy. You're chasing a girl that doesn't want to be caught." I swung around and went back to my corner.

"The hanging will be in two days." Guy coldly warned.

"If killing me makes ya feeling better than so be it!" I yelled at him, hoping he'd understand my sharp words.
