Chapter 23

■■

Guy was going crazy about finding Robin's body. He even yelled at Grace for crying too loud. It's been only a week since that day and as time goes by he is getting worse by the second. I did my best to try and calm him down, but he was not having it. He started to roughly grab me by my arms. When I heard that Gisborne got Robins men, I had to do something. Betha was taking care of Grace and I know she wouldn't let any harm come to her. I ordered her to take Grace to my house I was at when I left Guy. I was not going to have Guy hurt our kid.

Hearing Allan was to be hanged the next day, I had to visit him. When I got to the dungeon he was shackled to the door, unable to move, to escape.

"Oh, Allan," I sighed, softly touching his face.

"Eve, what are you doing here?" He questioned with a soft tone.

"Yeah, what are you doing here?" Much groaned with an eye roll.

I clicked my tongue. "Well, I've come to give you food. Plus, I can't let any of you be executed. You guys mean so much to me."

John scoffed. "So you've come to set us free?"

I shook my head. "I cannot do it here, they would know it was me. I cannot risk Guy getting even more bent out of shape. I can promise you that in time you will be free."

"Eve, what happened there?" Allan pointed out the bruise on my arm.

I shied away. "All this Robin chaos has Guy a little stressed. It's nothing I can't handle."

Allan began to get furious. "If that bastard hurts you or Grace, I will kill him myself!" Allan gritted his teeth.

"Allan," I breathed, placing my hand to his sweet face. "It's fine. I had Betha take Grace to my house, so I can deal with Guy. Now... I must go before the guards get weary of me."

I said some emotional goodbyes and head back to what was my home.

Guy didn't sleep and he wanted to know where Grace was. When I refused to tell him, he raised his hand. Putting my arms up in defense, Guy stopped and looked at me with a blank face. Shaking his head he bolted out of the room. I was a little confused about what just happened. I was also scared of what was going to happen.

The next day everyone filled the halls was in Nottingham. I didn't want to be up with Guy and the Sheriff, so I waited in the smelly crowd. The three outlaws were tied up in front of a beautifully colorful board. Guards brought out a cannon, but instead of shooting cannonballs, it shot arrows. Letting the first arrow fly, Allan was lucky enough to have moved over just a hair.

I looked around, looking for something to do, to stop this. That's when a dark man stood forward and offered a prayer. I knew that he had to be with Robin. The monk then went on how the Sheriff broke the law and God was mad, so the sun would disappear. Which sounded unbelievable, but then the sun disappeared and people began to run which was the perfect chance to help the guys. I ran up and cut them loose before the other arrows were fired.

Running up to Guy, he held me as the sun appeared, showing Robin at the top of the wall. Robin made his way down, coming after Guy. I pulled out my sword.

"You hurt him, you go through me! After everything I did for you, you're going to take my everything away!" I shouted at him and were tears in my eyes.

Robin groaned and retreated. He knew I made a point.

Something in that moment changed Guy, snapping him out of the Robin Hood chaos. He pulled me in and held me tight.

"That was too risky, please be careful, Eve. I can't lose you," he whispered to me.

"I see that I have my love back," I growled at him, pulling away. "Your poor attempt to show you care won't get your daughter back."

Guy sighed. "I know, Evelyn. Everything that I have done has been out of line. You have no idea how sorry I am. I just want you back, our family back. No matter how far I fall I will always come back to you because I love you and only you, Evelyn." Guy tried taking my hand.

"Yeah!" I spat, pulling my hand away. "Then prove it!"

I left Guy and rode home myself. When he came home, not too long after, Guy begged for my forgiveness and my love. It took a lot, but he managed to hit the right button, causing me to give into him.
