Chapter 31
■■
Robin came up with a plan to steal the weapons that the army had outside. He, Guy, John, and Tuck were going on the mission.
"Robin, I'm coming with," I roared, grabbing my own rope.
Guy shook his head. "We need you here, keep Much and the others in line."
"No, you know I can fight, I'm not leaving -- not again." I looked at Robin for help.
Robin gave a deep sigh. "She's right, she's great when it comes to fighting, but Guy is right, you stay here."
I groaned, "are you kidding me?"

I stayed with Much, watching at the top of the wall. My nerves were on fire, just sitting back and watching my family stick their necks out and I wasn't there to help when they needed it. I couldn't see much of what was happening, but I could see the fiery explosions. When five figures ran toward the gates, I demanded them to be open. Sure enough, it was the four boys that left us, coming back with Archer.
Greeting Guy in a hug, I was pleased to see him still in one piece. The sun was waking up and with the light, we all could see the army coming for us. They were coming with great force. Attacking with a battering the army started to fire flaming arrows up at us. Robin ordered everyone to fall back into the castle courtyard. Picking up a bow and arrows, Guy grabbed my hand.
Closing the gates to the castle courtyard, I readied myself to fight.
"No, you're not putting yourself in danger," Guy scolded me.
I looked up at him with a glare. "Well, that sucks cause I'm not leaving you. Can't you see that we need all the help we can get."
I ran to the front and began shotting arrows at the men when they held Kate at bay. Robin stalled while Much was lowered to rescue her. The army fell back and we all cheered. I jumped onto Guy and laughed.
"We seemed to be winning!" I cheered. "Being with you is giving me a reason to fight."
Guy smiled and pulled me close. "You're my reason too."
Men started to yell, the army was back. Running to the front, once again. I fought next to Much, letting my arrows fly. The gate was breached, so we throw the bows and drew our swords. There were too many of them. Robin came out and called everyone back and into the castle. I ran and found Guy, who was distracted. Isabella had escaped and was in the tunnel. I followed Guy, giving him backup along with Archer. Still holding my sword, I scanned the dark carven. The ground shook as a loud boom rang in the air.
"She's trying to blast her way out of here," Guy said.
"Might be a way out for all of us," Archer suggested.
Guy ordered Archer to go and tell Robin. I went up to Guy.
"Are you sure about this?"
He nodded. I trailed close behind Guy as he went first, trying to draw her out. Gisborne found her finding behind a pillar, holding his sword to her.
"You know, Guy, you loved me once," she said, with a fake sorrow-filled tone.
"And me too," the Sheriff purred, walking from the shadows.
Guy had me stay back, so I could come when I needed to. He looked hurt. "You planned this?" He asked his sister, turning his sword from her to the Sheriff.
"Isabella, you will, of course, relinquish your claims to my title, if you wish to join me." The Sheriff smiled at Isabella, then looking to Guy. "I didn't want anyone else to have the pleasure of killing you, so I set up this little trap."
There was a handful of people on the Sheriff's side. While he went after Guy, I figure it was my time to step in. Isabella went around and was going to attack Guy from behind, I jumped forward, grabbing her by the hair.
"Not today," I growled in her ear, throwing her to the ground.
The little scab kicked me in the stomach, sending me back a few steps. Archer and Robin showed up, throwing her against the wall, she got a few blows in before I gripped her hair again. I held my blade to her throat.
"It's over Isabella," I warned.
"Are you sure about that? I'd check your family before you think you've won," she smiled with an evil grin.
I yanked on her, making her wince in pain. "What did you do?" I demanded, worried about Guy who was still fighting the Sheriff.
"The blade I cut Robin with, maybe it had poison on it. Straight into the bloodstream. He'll be dead before sundown." She purred with a happy grin. "Vaizey will kill Guy and take everything that you love, away."
I roared. "Well, too bad for you, you won't be around to see it." Stabbing her in the side, I threw her body to the cold ground.
The three guards came after me. Swords hitting against one another rang through the thick, heavy air. I got the chance to take down one of the guards while the other two were after Robin. Kicking one in the back, I ran my blade thought his lungs.
There was a sharp and loud cling next to my ear. Looking over I saw Guy, who had blocked the last guard's sword.
Guy wink at me. "You're welcome."
Rolling my eyes, I saved his butt, blocking a blow to the head from the Sheriff's new loyal servant. I winked at Guy. "You're welcome."
Archer took over the guard while Robin had the Sheriff on the ground.
The Sheriff managed to get free and escape, saying that he'd be back with his army.
"If he comes back with the army, we all are dead," I suggested with a positive tone.
"No, we are not. Evelyn, I promise to never leave you and that is was a intend to do." Guy took my hand in his and explain the plan.
Hiding everyone in the cellar that connected to the tunnel, we stayed there till the guards passed by. We got the people out of Nottingham and into the forest. Robin took Archer and headed back, running out of Nottingham just in time. The castle exploded, bringing the whole thing down.
I jumped into Guy's arms in excitement. "We did it!"
Guy spun me around and laughed.

Robin didn't make it. He said his goodbye's before leaving us to pass in peace. As much as we butted heads, it hurt so much to see my family leave. For all that he did, Robin deserved better. The rest of the gang that lived, went on the fight in Robin's name.
Guy and I went to my little cottage and settled down. In five years' time, we had a son named Roger, after Guy's father. A few years after we had two daughters. One was Robin and the other Ghislaine. Guy and I were finally happy. King Richard return and took back his country. Stories of Robin Hood were spread throughout the land. Guy picked up farming and making an honest living for his family. Life turned out great, but it would have been worse if I let Guy go in that tunnel alone.
Every day he tells me that I'm the most beautiful girl in the world and that he'd be nothing without me. Every morning, he shows how much he loves me, and every night, I tell him how much I love him. We somehow ended up lucky to live and to start new. While others were not so fortunate.
