Chapter 14

■■

I packed a sack of clothes and a blanket. Before leaving, I grabbed a small bag of money as well. I hopped on my horse and bolted off into the forest. No, I didn't go to Robin to stay. I traveled far from Nottingham; to Wakefield. There, my father had owned a small cottage on the outskirts of the village. It was getting old and run down. I haven't been there for a few years.

Getting to the home, I dusted everything off. I went out and bought some food before the market closed up. I made myself at home in the old cottage which looked very alive when I was done with it.

■■Many Weeks Later■■

I was outside picking flowers from behind the cottage when I heard hooves trotting near. Looking up, I was surprised to see Robin.

"What are you doing here?" I questioned, getting up and brushing myself off.

"I came to take you home," Robin replies.

I couldn't help but laugh. "Home? To Guy or the forest?"

"Since you've been gone... Guy has been moving in on Marian. She hasn't been talking to me as much. I see her out with Guy a lot. They've gotten close." Robin explains with a raised eyebrow.

"No, they were close before, during, and after my marriage with Guy. That's the reason why I left. He never loved me."

"What of Allan? He had feelings for you. And far as I know... You and Guy are still married." Robin desperately said.

"There was nothing between him and I. Guy has moved on and so have I." I walked over to the cottage with a slight waddle in my walk. Lately, I've been having pain in my lower stomach area. I've also been hungry a lot.

Robin follows me. "Are you okay?" He asked.

"I'm fine," I shouted, grabbing a vase.

"You look different. Are you gaining weight?" Robin questioned with a sly smile.

I shot a glare at him. "No!"

"I see a little bump. Are you pregnant?" He gave me a grin once more.

"No! It's been months since Guy and I... you know." I exclaimed as I filled the vase with cool spring water.

"I didn't say it was Guys. Ya know, I know what you and Allan were doing. In the forest that one night. The day you left. And many times before that. I have eyes everywhere." Robin said, leaning on the cottage.

"That's creepy. And I'm not pregnant. Besides, Allan can't know even if I was."

"Why not? He's the father of it."

I clicked my tongue. "I ran away from Guy and Allan works for him. If Allan finds out then Guy will find out. And if Guy finds out, he'd kill Allan. That can't happen. And I'm not pregnant!" I shouted.

"Well, he's a traitor. He deserves to die." Robin chuckled a bit, trying to hide his true anger.

"Why are you here, Robin?" I questioned, making a loud bang, warning Robin that he hit a nerve.

"Guy is coming to get you. Marian told him where you were and he's coming to beg for forgiveness." Robin spilled, bracing for a punch.

Of course, I did punch his arm. "So you lied about Marian not talking to you!" I gritted my teeth.

Robin nodded. "I thought that would get you to come back. Truth is... Marian doesn't like Guy the way you think. All of the things you think you saw were wrong."
