Nagisa awoke the next morning with a strange tingling feeling on his side. Frowning, he sat up.

The angel pulled his shirt up slightly, then gasped. There, on his side, was a smooth, black pentagram. There was a thin circle around the star in the center, with spikes of black protruding outwards from the band.

"What the hell?" Nagisa exclaimed, practically jumping out of bed. When had this got here?!

Nagisa hesitantly grabbed his knife, curiosity filling him. He stood in front of a mirror. What would a holy knife do against a demon's mark? Carefully, he drew the blade across the marking, cutting the sharp edge into it.

"Ouch!" Nagisa yelped as a dizzying pain shot through him for half a second.

"If you're trying to get rid of it, it's not gonna work," purred an alluring voice.

Nagisa spun around sharply, his long blue hair flying out behind him. The angel found himself face to face with a certain red-haired demon.
There was a lazy grin on his face, but his eyes were sharp and his gaze predatory. He stepped forward, and Nagisa stepped back more out of habit.

"K-karma?" His voice was uncertain.

"Hmm?" Karma hummed in response, eying the angel.

"How did you get here? And this mark...?" Nagisa was confused. He was certain that other demon hadn't marked him.

"I teleported, of course," Karma laughed, stepping forward again. Nagisa's back hit the wall.

"But demons can't teleport..." the angel had been on top of his studies when he'd trained, and he was quite certain they couldn't.

"They can teleport to those they've marked if the mark is damaged," Karma drawled, reaching out and snatching Nagisa's wrist that held his knife.

Nagisa's brain was like slush, the hand on his wrist growing painfully tight. Karma's demon-like smile was one of triumph, and his body was much too close to Nagisa's own.

Then it hit him. "Y-you did this?" The angel demanded, "Why?" He should've known better. Nagisa cursed himself for wanting to trust him. Why had he been so stupid? It was as if he was asking for a death wish.

Karma shrugged. "You interest me." He leaned closer, leaving merely inches between their faces.
"And I want you to drop that knife."

Nagisa glared at him, struggling to twist his wrist out of the demon's grip.
"I won't."

The demon offered a blindingly sharp smile, his golden eyes filled with amusement. "You will."

Nagisa made a split-second decision. He gathered strength and kicked his knee into the demon's crotch, focused his energy on a physical shield, and ran for the door.

"Nagisa-chan, just where do you think you're going?" Karma demanded, using his demonic speed to stand in front of Nagisa. He reached out, then hissed as his hand hit the physical shield.

Karma instantly changed his tactic. He might've been a new demon, but he wasn't one of the most known for nothing.
"Nagisa-channn," Karma dropped his voice, a seductive, enticing smile on his lips. He forced himself to ignore the pain coming from his hand.

The angel froze in the middle of his attack. Karma smirked inwardly. Just as he thought, the angel's mental block was down when his physical was up.
And it just so happened that Karma was an expert in charming.

"Drop the knife, Nagi-chan," Karma ordered, stepping forward, his stunning looks and mesmerizing mercury eyes playing to his advantage.

Nagisa's mind clouded over. Karma. When had the demon gotten so close? Where had his knife gone? None of that mattered at the moment. All he wanted was to be in Karma's arms. He barely registered the clatter of the knife on the floor.

Then, the world tilted. The angel yelped as he felt himself being lifted up, then deposited on the bed. Just like that, the control the demon had over his mind snapped and Nagisa was suddenly aware of everything.

"Got you." Karma openly smirked, pinning him easily to the bed with his own body. It appeared Nagisa's physical shield snapped when Karma grabbed his mind.

Nagisa looked away, defeated. Again? This was the second time he was at the mercy of a demon, but there wasn't anyone coming to save him this time. (Ironically it's his savior who's pinning him down)

"Are you going to eat my soul?" Nagisa asked meekly.

Karma scoffed. "No. I like you too much to do that. You're different than the others, and besides... I can't eat your soul even if I wanted to."

The last part was a slight lie, but he'd hoped Nagisa was too caught up in it all to question it. Demons could eat the souls of whomever, by tearing them to shreds brutally, that is. The problem with that is it alerts any gods or angels to their presence, so most demons only do that if they're desperate. The more a demon can get an angel or a human to submit and take a liking to them, and be influenced by them, the easier it was to merely take their soul by power. Not a single god or angel would get drawn in.

Karma knew this very well, and he'd honed his skills into being able to use his tactic almost flawlessly.

"What do you mean?" Nagisa looked confused, and still uncomfortable.

Karma merely smiled. It was a knowing smile, one that suggested he knew something Nagisa didn't. Which in this case, was true.

"It means you're stuck with me. You drew me in, and now you're dealing with the consequences. But I won't eat you." Yet, Karma added to himself with an inward smirk.

Nagisa looked up curiously. "So... you're just going to be almost like my shadow?" From his facial expressions, Karma could see hints of annoyance and relief. He shrugged at the angel's words.

"If you want to look at it that way. My mark ensures I can find you, and that we're connected," Karma explained. His eyes glowed dangerously for a second.

"And, it lets other demons know to keep their hands off. I like you, Nagisa, and I hate to share."
