Karma arched an eyebrow in question. "Are you not concerned in your friend's opinion of me?"
Nagisa shot him a sideways look. "It's not like I can control you two. And the way she sees you doesn't change how I feel about you."
Karma let out a laugh. "You are such a fallen angel."
Nagisa looked offended. "Well who's fault is that?"
Karma smirked, his eyes glittering. "If you forgot, I can show you again~" his voice dripped suggestiveness and had dropped to a low purr.
Nagisa instantly blushed. "Karma!"
"Oh come on, you enjoyed it," the demon drawled.
"Just because I'm a fallen angel doesn't mean I constantly desire you, Karma," Nagisa said in a lecturing tone. "I have other angel things to do."
"We should play a game. You try and brighten everyone's moods with your power and I see how fast I can send them into depression."
"No, Karma."
The demon tugged his sky-blue hair playfully. "C'mon, Nagisa-chan~"
The angel responded with a glare. Karma gave a disappointed sigh. "Fine, let's get this date over with so you can see to your angel things."
Nagisa's eyes widened. "Karma-" he began quickly, but he was cut off with a wave of Karma's hand.
"I'm kidding, Nagi. I'd rather draw this out as long as a possible."
Nagisa relaxed at the smirk that had returned to the demon's face. That was more like Karma.
"So where are we going?"
"Nothing special," Karma shrugged. "But it's probably better than that pizza stuff you ordered the entire week I stayed with you, before that brat Asano took you away."
"Karma please don't offend one of my favorite foods."
"I'll offend what I want." Karma replied with a haughty smile.
Nagisa rolled his eyes, but didn't respond. He followed the red-haired male through the now busy streets of their city, enjoying the act that they were a normal couple.
The act. Karma seemed to be enjoying it very much, holding Nagisa's hand and smirking at anyone who would give them a second glance. The angel was the opposite, ducking his head anytime anyone would even glance in their direction.
It wasn't that he was embarrassed to be around Karma- unless the demon was teasing him he loved being around the him. It was the fear of being recognized by others like them.
He really wasn't in the mood for Asano to magically swoop down from the rooftops like "Surprise bitch!" In fact, Nagisa was ready to avoid that at all costs, especially on a date with Karma.
"Here we are, Nagisa!"
Nagisa read the name. "Roots? This is an Italian restaurant!" He accused.
Karma looked on innocently. "And?"
"You just criticized me for having pizza!" Nagisa glared.
Karma stuck his tongue out. "Get something besides pizza then, duh."
Nagisa sighed reluctantly. "Fine."
Karma gave a mocking pout. "This date hasn't even started and you already don't seem to be enjoying it. Shall we skip dinner then? And just go home to do more pleasurable things?" The demon's voice took on a sultry tone at the end, and his golden eyes sparkled mischievously.
Nagisa felt his face heat up. "You're in such a teasing mood, Karma."
Karma laughed. "I'm kidding~ I haven't seen you in awhile. I've missed my favorite person to tease! But I'm sure you're hungry."
He walked into the restaurant. They were seated almost immediately, despite the full tables. They were lucky there was no one else waiting.
"So..." Nagisa murmured nervously, fiddling with the silverware as he tried to start conversation.
Karma eyed him curiously. "What're you thinking about, Nagisa-chan?"
The fallen angel hesitated on his reply. "...us," he finally answered.
Karma leaned forward. "Go on," he waved a graceful hand.
Nagisa felt himself nervously fiddling with his hands as he stared at the candle flame in front of him. "What...what happens if one of us dies?"
Karma blinked, taken aback. Then he gave an easy laugh. "I won't let that happen."
"I'm serious," Nagisa insisted. "If something were to happen to one of us, what would the other one do?"
Karma gave a long sigh. He hated thinking of the possibilities of loosing Nagisa or Nagisa loosing him, though he knew they were there. He had thought about them, back when he realized how much the angel meant to him.
Karma lowered his voice to where only a supernatural being could hear him. "If something were to happen to you, my love, I'd torment them until all they know is torture and pain. I'd laugh at their suffering and watch them to die. Then, I'd fight for you. I'll go to heaven and find you myself."
People often wondered what happened to angels and demons who so-called died. Angels get locked up in golden cages with bars that burn like hellfire within heaven, looked down upon by their peers for being bested. Demons are chained at the bottom of hell for not being strong enough to survive. Usually never seen again. And fallen angels? They suffer the same as angels, reminding them of who they were.
Nagisa stared unflinchingly at the candle flame, tuning out the noise of other people around him. Karma's soft yet harsh words rang through his ears, replaying. Would the demon really do all that for him? And even risk going to heaven?
"And you?"
Nagisa stayed quiet for a moment, then turned his gaze up with determination. "I'd do to them what they did to you. Then I'd do everything I could to find you, to love you. I'll go into hell and plead with Satan. Because I don't ever want to be separated from you."
Karma kept his gaze locked on Nagisa. In the orange candlelight, the fallen angel's eyes appeared as the glowing eyes of a snake. Threatening, but unmoving. He was beautiful.
Nagisa felt himself get lost in Karma's eyes, which were glowed like molten lava. The couple was tuning out everyone around them, and if Nagisa honed in on his angelic senses for a second, he could feel the possessive aura around Karma. And also... he could feel a loving one. You didn't see an aura that strong around demons often.
Unable to continue the intensity, Nagisa shattered the moment with a clear statement in a normal human tone.
"I want you to train me."
