hey please don't skip over this to get straight to the story because this stuff is pretty important so yeah just. stick around and read this real quick before going to the real terrible story okay cool thanks

alright, so.

flicker, fade is the first song i ever heard by taking back sunday about a year ago. they're one of my favorite bands right now and i was sort of obsessed with the song so i named this story after that. before i called it flicker, fade, i had called it gross and out of sight, out of mind but neither really fit. getting the right title for a story is always sort of hard but getting the story itself right is even harder.

i've been writing this since the june of 2015.

it started off as a kellic, then i added ryden, then i decided to add some jalex, and then i stuck some jardougall in. since a year and a half ago this started off as a kellic, it is still mainly focused around kellin and vic as their characters were always my main interests. if this seems to focus on different characters over others, it's probably because i added other ones later on and wasn't exactly sure what to do with them. so that's that.

on another note, i am experiencing so much anxiety with posting this but i told myself it'd be up before december and december is tomorrow so here goes i guess. the first chapter isn't the best because i had about 5 solid chapters before i scrapped like everything twice in the past years to keep writing, so the first few chapters are pretty shitty because it's just my old writing but super duper edited.

so so so this story deals with a shit ton of different topics because i sort of got really curious about different things and decided to write about them. a lot of things i had thought about and realized that there was little to no representation of them in other fanfics, so i decided to shove a ton of these topics together into one big fic. so, okay, yes i write about a lot of stuff that may be sensitive topics or triggering idk i can write the longest damn rant about triggered jokes but this is not the time so just alright. this fic deals with eating disorders, abuse, body dysphoria, and mentions of self harm and suicide but not like. directly. ALSO there is some stuff in here i have absolutely no experience with it and yes i've done my research but if some stuff is wrong please don't be mad because i've never firsthand dealt with it and also for other things i have dealt with it and know allll about it so if some things seem more detailed than others then it's because i actually know what i'm writing about.

because i don't want to give anything away in chapters i'm just gonna put a (&) in the title of the chapter so you know there might be shit in there but the first and second chapters haven't got anything so that's that yup.

one last thing: although kellic, ryden, and jardougall are the main ships there's some nice background frerard and peterick and i KNOW jalex is on the cover and in the title but i was too lazy to remake the whole cover and there's just a little jalex. just a bit.

before you read, i'd just like to thank broccoli and una and ali for keeping me alive to write this and especially broccoli for waiting actually years for me to post this and being patient and talking to me about it and all that. right you can go read now i'm really nervous about this because i've spent so much time on it and cried over it so much and just worked so. hard. on it. so, try to enjoy.
