"Tyler!" Cynthia yelled. "Yeah?" Tyler responded. "Get down here!" Tyler looked up from his notebook in alarm. Cynthia almost never used that sentence. She only used it if Tyler or Josh did something seriously wrong. He set his notebook aside, got up from the bed, and ran down the stairs. Cynthia was waiting at the bottom. She was holding Tyler's old notebook. He got his new one the other day. A lot of the songs in his old one were pretty recent.

Cynthia was pointing at a page that contained a rather dismal song. She hated it when Tyler wrote songs like that. It reminded her of a past that she spent so much time trying to escape.

When Tyler saw what song she was pointing at, he looked down, so as to avoid her disappointed gaze. "You promised you wouldn't write any more songs like that."

"I know, I know. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have written it. It's just... that was my way of venting at that time."

"Venting?" Now she knew what was really going on. Tyler knew about her dark past. So did Josh. While it made them both sad, Tyler would feel far worse. He would cry for hours, wishing she didn't have to suffer that fate. Then, when he was done crying, he would find some sort of way to vent his feelings. Clearly, that song was his was of venting at that time.

Tyler looked as if he was about to start silently crying. Cynthia had a sad look on her face. "Tyler... I know that you didn't mean anything by this song. I know that you were just trying to vent. I get that. But... I wouldn't have to see this song and get on to you if you hadn't thought about you-know-what in the first place." A single tear rolled down Tyler's face and off his cheek, onto the floor. Cynthia walked over to him and hugged him. He hugged back. He rested his head in her hair, still crying. While it may seem like Cynthia was Tyler's emotional support, most of the time, it would be the other way around. Cynthia suffered from a special case of depression, so a lot of the time, she needed for Tyler to be there for her. And sometimes, Tyler needed Cynthia to be there for him. That's why they shared a bed.

Now, it may sound rather strange at first, but it was for good reason. More often than not, Tyler would wake up in the middle of the night and hear a quiet sob. When he did, he would hug Cynthia from behind and it was as if her worries and fears went away entirely. "Don't worry," he would whisper in her ear. "I'm right here for you. Always."

When their hug finally ended, Tyler's face was covered in tears. Cynthia grabbed a tissue and handed it to him. He wiped away his tears, then blew his nose. It ended up sounding rather strange, making Cynthia laugh. Tyler chuckled. Cynthia would always laugh at the smallest things.

Cynthia looked up at Tyler. "There's that smile," she said. Suddenly, Cynthia's phone started ringing. She took it out of her back pocket and looked at it. "Gracie," she muttered. "Hold on, I've gotta take this."

"Okay," Tyler said. He threw his tissue away, then walked back upstairs.

"Hello?" Cynthia said. "Cynthia! Oh, it feels like I haven't heard your voice in forever."

     "Gracie, we talked on Saturday."

     "Your point being...?"

"That was two days ago." Cynthia rolled her eyes. Her friend could overreact sometimes.

"Are you sure it's only been two days?"

     "Yes, Gracie, I'm sure."

"Okay. Anyways. Have you and Tyler become a couple yet?"

"No. Like I said, there are no feelings of love between us. We're just friends."

"Are you sure about that? I mean, you have been talking about him a lot lately."

"Have not!" Cynthia retorted. "Have so! On Saturday, you wouldn't shut up about how adorable his floral ghost thing was!" (Kudos to you if you know what that is.) Cynthia sighed. "Look. There are feelings between you two, whether you like it or not."

"Okay. Fine. Maybe I do have feelings for him. But I don't know if he feels the same way."

"He most likely does! I'm sure of it."

"How can you be so sure of that?"

"He comforts you when you're feeling sad. He always lights up when he's around you. He's willing to share a bed with you."

"That is good proof. Maybe you're right. Maybe he does feel the same way. But how do I approach him about it?"

"Just ask him if he's available to go to the park one night, then tell him how you feel."

"That sounds like a good plan. But what do I do if he doesn't feel the same way?"

"I don't know. Move on to Josh?" Cynthia laughed. She had no feelings for Josh whatsoever. They were definitely just friends. "Not a chance."

"Okay, okay. By the way, how old are they?"

     "Why?"

"I don't know. Just curious. Tell me Josh's age first."

"Do you have feelings for Josh?"

"What? No. Okay, maybe." Cynthia giggled. "What? It's not my fault that he looks cute."

"Okay, okay. Josh is 22, and Tyler is 21."

"Wow. A 19-year old with a 21-year old. Eh. Makes sense."

"Stop it. Look, I'll talk to you later, okay? Bye."

"Bye." Cynthia put her phone back into her back pocket, then went up to their room. When she walked in, Tyler was sitting on the bed, cross-legged, hunched over his notebook. He raised his head. "How badly did she overreact today?" he asked with a smile. "Ehn. It was moderate. She said that it felt like she hadn't talked to me in forever, and I told her it had only been two days.  She didn't quite believe me at first." Tyler chuckled. Cynthia sat down on the bed next to him. "So, what are you working on?"

"Nothing right now. I've just been reading old songs."

"So that's why you weren't holding a pencil when I walked in." They both laughed, then looked at each other. Cynthia had an idea. But she didn't think Gracie would approve of it. If Gracie doesn't approve of it, then oh, well, she thought. "Would you, by any chance, be available to come to the park with me tonight?" Tyler thought about it. "Yeah. I'm not gonna be busy tonight. Especially considering we don't have any shows for the next two months. When?" Cynthia thought about it. "In an hour?"

"Sure," Tyler said. His hand moved on top of Cynthia's, and he didn't realize it had. Cynthia looked down at her hand and blushed. Her hand had taken his in hers. When Tyler saw it, he blushed, too. They stayed like that for a few seconds, then separated. "I should probably go ahead and start getting ready," Cynthia said. "Okay," Tyler said. When she left, Tyler laid back on the bed and sighed. He was about to take a quick nap, but then Josh ran into the room and said, "I just came up with the best idea ever!"

"What?" Tyler asked. Whenever Josh came up with an idea, it had a tendency to be pretty legendary. "We go outside right now and do some extreme phone pinching!"

"Yeah!" Tyler said. They ran outside with their phones and went to the nearest drain. Tyler went first. Then Josh went. Both of their phones went far down the drain. They took turns for what felt like 50 minutes. Then Tyler remembered that he was going to the park with Cynthia. "Hey, I gotta go. See ya later!" He ran back inside and saw Cynthia waiting. "Should we go ahead and go?" she asked. "Sure," Tyler said. They went out to the park, where Cynthia was about to confess her love for Tyler.
