     Darkness.

     Pure darkness.

That was the only thing Cynthia could see. Darkness.

Then she opened her eyes and saw something new.

     Light.

Light so bright, it could have blinded her.

She shut her eyes again. As much as she hated the darkness, at that moment, the light felt worse.

     "Cynthia? You awake?"

     Tyler.

She opened her eyes wide and wrapped her arms around his neck. She didn't care if the light hurt her eyes. All she wanted was for Tyler to hold her tight and tell her that everything was going to be all right.

She tried to sit up, but it hurt so much that she laid straight back down. He got the message and leaned down to hug her.

She began to cry. So did he. They cried because of how much they needed each other. They cried because of how much they each had to go through. They cried because of how hard things had been for the both of them.

They cried because Cynthia woke up.

No one thought she would wake up.

     Ever.

When they were done, Tyler sat down in the chair beside of Cynthia. "Where am I?"

     "Hospital."

     "What? How? Why?"

"You don't remember?" She shook her head. He sighed. "The doctors did say you might suffer from memory loss."

     "Memory loss?"

"Yeah. When you fell, you hit your head pretty hard." She placed her hand on her head and felt stitches. He saw her and said, "Your knees hit a tree root, so you fell over and landed on a pretty sharp tree branch, causing you to cut your head."

"Oh." She was still in shock from the memory loss. At this point, there were only bits and pieces of what happened. Faint memories. She sighed.

Tyler grabbed her hand and said, "I'm glad you remember me. If you didn't, I don't know what I would do."

"Why would I not remember you? You're the love of my life."

"The doctors said that your memory loss might be so bad, you wouldn't remember the people closest to you. Like me. Your family. Your friends. Everyone you know and love."

"Is there any way to bring the lost memories back?"

"Only if you're reminded of the memories you lost. For example, if you didn't remember what your favorite ice cream flavor was, and we went to an ice cream shop, you would have a chance of remembering what it was. The only problem is, there's always the chance that you might never remember something ever again."

"Well, even if it doesn't work, we can still try." She went to get out of the hospital bed, but immediately stopped as she felt a sharp pain in her head. It felt like someone was hitting her head with a sledgehammer. She tried to hold back her sounds of agony, but it was no use, and she let out a scream. He looked at her and said, "What's wrong? Cynthia?"

She tried to answer, but couldn't, for her throat felt dry and she couldn't breathe well. She tried to take normal breaths, but failed as she began to hyperventilate anxiously. She didn't have much air left in her system. She began to lose consciousness. He grabbed her before she fell to the ground and gently put her back in the bed. "Look, everything's gonna be okay. J-Just stay with me." He pressed the button to call a nurse, but no one answered. He ran out of the hospital room, into the hall, and called for help. A doctor saw him and followed him into the room. But by the time they were in there, Cynthia was lying on the bed, unconscious.

....................

Great. I get to see the darkness again, Cynthia thought. She hated the darkness because of what lurked in it. The creatures of the night, the polluted people of the world, her demons.

     Her demons.

That was why she passed out again. Her demons caused her anxiety to kick in. When her anxiety begins to affect her, she can't breathe, and it feels like the room is getting smaller and smaller, attempting to crush her and erase her from the face of the earth. She never liked it, but it had to happen or she would keep her feelings bottled up, stuck inside, with no way out.

If her feelings were bottled up, by the time her depression kicked in, she wouldn't be able to cope.

She would be forced to choose between life and death.

     She would consider choosing death.

She would be gone before even thinking about life.

     She didn't want that.

In the darkness, she could move around as if she had control over her body. She knew she didn't really, because right now, she was lying on the hospital bed, unconscious.

Even though she could move, she rarely did because that would mean she would have to face her demons.

She didn't want to face her demons.

She decided that she had had enough of hiding, and started walking forward, even further into the darkness. She knew that in the long run, she would regret it, but at this point, she didn't care. She just wanted to get this over with.

As she walked forward, she heard a voice. It was a faint murmur. She shook it off and kept going. As she kept going, the noise grew louder. She stopped when she could finally understand what the voice.

"So you're the one Tyler fell in love with.........Didn't expect that. Oh, well."

She knew that voice all too well.

"What do you want?" A figure started walking toward her. As it got closer to her, she recognized it.

"We meet again, Cynthia. It's been a while, hasn't it?"

     Oh, no.

     Blurryface.
