"Let's get surveillance on Bambi's store up." Palmer said as she did her thing on the computer.

We were staking out a girl by the name of Bambi that worked with the cartel.

"You take first shift." She said because I was assigned the first eight hours, she gets the second and Murtaugh gets the third because he had poker night.

"I mean, you know, look, I'm not trying to step on anybody's toes or anything.." "You want first shift, you can have first shift." She said as she got ready for her slumber.

"I mean, you know, it's just that I cleared my whole schedule, you know, so I'm really--" "Riggs. It's fine." She stopped me.

She put a neck pillow around her neck before sitting down.

I gave her a weird look, "Look, if you're gonna take first shift, I'm sleeping. Unless you want to switch back." She said in frustration.

"No, it's just you, you know.. Never seen anybody pull out a neck pillow in one of these situations." I shrugged.

"Well, I'm sleeping on a beach chair and I don't want to wake up with a stiff neck. Have you been on many stakeouts?" She asked and I chuckled.

"Uh, yeah, I've been on a-a quite a few stakeouts, just never ones that have been catered with like.." I trailed off as I sat down in my chair.

"Oh, you know what, it's deli counter pasta and some chicken. It's an eight-hour shift. Please tell me you brought some food." She sighed and I got out my spray can cheese.

--

I felt someone take my hand as I opened my eyes, "Don't stay awake so long." Deja spoke softly as she looked down at me, "I miss this." She smiled.

I inhaled deeply as I woke up with a stiff neck on the chair.

"You gonna be ok over there?" Palmer asked giving me a curious look.

"Yeah.. Did, I'm--?" I closed my eyes as I pushed my hair back out of my face.

"You had a tough reentry. Too much spray cheese before bed." She lightly smiled.

"What'd I tell you about the neck?" She said as she stood up and walked to the table full of technology.

I rubbed my sore neck, before the bell on the door jingled.

"Hey, buddy. You're, like, two hours early. What are you doing here? " I said looking up at Murtaugh as he brought in a platter of something.

"Got tired of hanging out with the boys all night, you know, while you guys are stuck here, so I, uh, called up the back up nanny and brought you guys some breakfast." He explained, even though we both knew he was lying.

"Hoagies for breakfast. Pass." Palmer said.

"How's it going with Bambi?" Murtaugh asked peeking through the windows of our stakeout building.

"Well, she just opened the shop a few minutes ago, so we're waiting for a good opportunity to plant the bug." Palmer said and I stood up quickly.
