"Not just nails.. two types of screws, and an Allen wrench." I heard a nurse speak as I stopped walking, I wanted to hear what was wrong or else Riggs wouldn't tell me because he doesn't want me to stress out.

"You're lucky." She sighed as I heard her drop something in the small medal tubs they used.

I got a call from Avery saying I should come down to the hospital because my husband and father ran into trouble.

"No, luck had nothing to do with it." Riggs said and Murtaugh laughed loudly.

"Ha!" Murtaugh shouted, I knew Riggs must've done something..

"I mean, you know, perp had a nail gun pointed at my partner, I had no choice." Riggs spoke calmly.

I stepped in the doorway but Riggs cut up back was facing me, Roger opened his sheet quickly.

"Really? No choice?" Roger scoffed, focused solely on his partner with the apple in his hand.

"Didn't we just talk about our choices? About playing it safe? Or was I imagining that?" Murtaugh got all worked up.

"My options weren't great." Riggs shrugged as the nurse cleaned the cuts where the screws, nails and a wrench were.

"Oh, you had options. How about trusting your partner, huh? How-how about waiting for backup?" Roger said buttoning his jacket up.

"Shooting the guy in the leg? But, no. You had to take the one where we plummeted off a building, through a tarp, into a box of nails?" Roger scoffed as Riggs waved his finger back and forth.

"I made sure that was a controlled plummet." "Oh, you made sure?" Roger raised his voice.

"Yes, I made sure." Riggs sighed.

"That's right, cause you have x-ray vision and you saw what was on the other side of that tarp.." Roger scoffed.

"You had no idea where we were landing." Roger said and the nurse awkwardly cleared her throat.

"So, uh, I'm just gonna go recalibrate the forceps." She taking her tools and leaving, giving me a nervous smile as she left.

Riggs slowly lowered his shirt, "I think she just made that up." He tried to joke.

"You know what, Riggs? There's gonna come a time when there's nothing on the other side of that tarp. And I'm not letting you bring me down with you, and you sure as hell ain't bringing my daughter." He said glancing at me.

I sighed softly as Riggs turned to see me, Roger left us so we could talk.

"This is not how I expected my day to go." I spoke up because lately Riggs has been pulling away from me, he's been drinking and staying out late and showing up late to work. Still drunk.

"It wasn't as bad as he said-- Hey, what's wrong?" He asked me, my brown eyes met his.

I inhaled sharply, "I have worked so hard all my life to be a good person, so that when I'm married and I have kids I can raise them to be good people.." I said as I walked across the room and stood near a gurney.
