Part 4 - Training

When I got home, it was almost time for dinner, we had spoken longer than I thought. Rhea asked me what I had been doing, but I made a vague remark about it. Usually she would know my schedule but I couldn’t tell this to her. What would she say, I mean, they did send me to a psychiatrist, because of my wolf talking to me. If i’d tell her that I changed into a wolf only an hour ago, she would drag me to a mental institution by my hair. Don’t get me wrong, they love me to death, but they are normal. They love everything normal, so being a wolf, doesn’t fly with them. Showing them was a no go too. They would have a heart attack, both of them.

‘I was just out for a while, I had a talk with a kind man,’ I said, trying not to lie too much.

‘Oh, anyone I know?’ she asked.

‘No, I only met him yesterday. I might not see him ever again,’ I said, thinking of his threat.

‘Do you like him?’ Rhea asked, giving me a little wink.

‘No, not like that. He’s a little intimidating, but he was kind and explained some things. Nothing important,’ I whispered.

‘Okay honey, are you hungry?’ she asked me.

I nodded my head furiously, I hadn’t eaten lunch, better yet, I hadn’t even realised noon had come and gone. She gave me a large plate of macaroni and I was munching it down when David joined us.

‘Wauw, you must have been very hungry,’ he chuckled.

‘I forgot lunch,’ I muttered, between bites.

He didn’t reply and he also got a plate and Rhea sat down with her own as well.

‘Do you have any plans for tomorrow?’ she asked.

I told her I would go look for a job again, I didn’t have anything pending now Alpha Woods didn’t hire me. In the talk with Alpha Price I had understood why. I was a rogue, usually we would be killed on sight, but the man must have sensed I hadn’t shifted yet and might not realise where I was. I was angry at my parents, why couldn’t they just have left me at my own pack? Alpha price hadn’t heard of a Matthews family in his circles, but that didn’t mean they didn’t exist. Maybe they had been killed before or after I was dropped off. I didn’t really want to know. I had only asked about my parents once, David and Rhea hadn’t been able to tell me anything about them, so I had let it go. I was content in having them as my parents and to me, they did a great job. After dinner we sat down in the living room and watched some television.

‘..night we found a woman laying in an alley, she had been brutally murdered. Her body was maimed by teeth marks, which leads the police to think that is has been an animal attack. They have not identified the marks yet, we urge you to say out of the woods for the moment. The police is working hard to find out what animal could have done this and will hunt it down,’ the newscaster told us. I watched the screen in horror, this was in my town.

‘The vampire..’ my wolf told me.

‘Will he hurt more people?’ I wondered.

‘Without a doubt, lets hope he’s traveling and he’ll go soon,’ she said.

‘I think I’ll go upstairs, I want to search some job openings on my computer.’

‘Okay dear, good night,’ Rhea said.

She knew me too well, once I would go upstairs, I hardly ever came back down before morning.

The next few days I was too busy with looking for a job, to even think about being a wolf. The news came with so many new faces that had been torn apart by the unknown animal. Sour, I would think of how they might never know and surely would never understand. It was a friday, August 9th when I got a call.
