At eight o’clock, our alarm clock went off, I didn’t get another nightmare. I woke up and while Christopher pressed snooze, I got out of bed and took a quick shower. When I got back into the bedroom, clean and dressed, Christopher was just getting out of bed.
‘Goodmorning,’ I whispered.
‘Goodmorning darling, did you sleep okay?’ he asked.
‘After my first nightmare, I slept okay. I guess you keep me calm,’ I said, smiling at him lightly.
‘Glad to be of service,’ he smirked.
‘What are we going to do today?’ I asked him.
‘I need to help our pack, rebuild the house. Why don’t you take my mom to your Nana?’ he asked.
‘I can’t really face my Nana, she’ll need some time to adjust to this idea,’ I told him.
‘If you do go somewhere, do you promise to take someone with you? Don’t go out alone now?’ he asked, almost pleaded.
‘I won’t maybe I’ll look for something small, for the baby?’ I said.
‘Did you do a test?’ he asked me with a goofy grin.
‘Yeah, why’d you call it to be a girl? It could just be a boy,’ I said.
‘Maybe it’s a hope, or a hunch. I don’t know. But you are right, it could just as well be a boy.’
‘I think I might ask Marie and Gabby to come with me. They need the distraction and I won’t be alone,’ I said, pulling him into my arms, as he was done dressing.
‘Okay, good idea, but I’ll have to go for work now,’ he said, kissing me on the lips.
‘I love you.’
‘I love you, Muffin,’ he said, planting another kiss on my lips.
He went to his office, leaving me alone.
‘Gabby and Marie, would you meet me at the front door in a few minutes?’ I asked.
I didn’t know where their rooms were, or which houses they lived in on our territory. They both gave me a confirmation and I went to Angel’s room. I knocked on her door and she asked me in quickly.
‘Hi darling, can I help you?’ she asked me.
‘Yes, you can get dressed and come to the front door in a bit,’ I told her from the door and smiled at her.
‘Okay, any chance you will tell me what we’re going to do?’ she asked.
‘Nope, not yet. See you there in a few,’ I said.
I got out of her room and went back to my bedroom, I grabbed a comfortable shoulderbag and put in my wallet, keys and phone. Afterwards I walked downstairs where both Gabby and Marie were waiting for me. Marie was standing there, looking very shy with her brown hair and brown eyes. She was still so very sad, I really hoped the shopping would do her good. Gabby on the other hand, seemed to be feeling a lot better, but when I reached out for her in my mind, I could feel her hurt, it almost made me cry for her.
‘My Luna,’ Gabby said, bowing her head.
‘My Luna,’ Marie said, immediately after. ‘Excuse me for asking, but why have we been summoned?’
‘Don’t worry. It’s a surprise, we’re just waiting for one more participant,’ I told them, smiling at them.
‘I’m here,’ Angel said from behind me.
I took all of them outside and invited them into my car, driving to town.
‘Where are we going, my Luna?’ Gabby asked.
She seemed to have such a bouncy and enthusiastic personality, but now she was just to the point. I was just parking the car.
‘We’re going shopping,’ I exclaimed. ‘For the baby!’
‘Luna, you.. you are not?’ Marie muttered.
‘I’m pregnant, but please don’t tell anyone yet,’ I said as we got out of the car.
‘Do you know what it is yet?’
‘No, I’ve only been pregnant for a week or so. So I don’t want to buy too much, maybe some small things,’ I said.
We walked into town, walking into small boutiques to look for clothing for Angel, Gabby and Marie. We looked in the special baby store, but I only bought a small cloth which should be used to place on the bottom of our baby’s crib. I had bought it, so I could keep it with me for a while, so when my baby would be wrapped in it the first time, the first thing he’d smell would be me. We went to several other stores and we sat down on a small terrace, ordering a drink for us all.
‘What does it feel like?’ Can you feel anything?’ Gabby asked me.
‘Not really. It’s been such a short while and so much has happened,’ I said.
‘Dawn? Dawny, it’s me,’ I heard a familiar voice call out.
‘Hi Nana! Won’t you join us?’ I asked, turning to see my sweet Nana walking with two grocery bags.
‘Off course sweetheart,’ she said, as she came to us and grabbed a chair.
‘So, young ladies, who might you be?’ she asked, being as friendly as ever.
‘These are Gabby and Marie, both nieces of mine,’ Angel said.
‘Are they.. like you?’ Nana asked.
‘Yes Nana, they are. We were just looking for some baby things, but not too much,’ I told her.
‘I had almost.. forgotten.. Will you tell your mother?’ she asked.
‘Yes, I’ll have to, but after my first trimester,’ I said, taking a sip of my soda.
‘I’d love to see her face,’ Nana said, everyone laughed at that.
Something red flashed behind Gabby and disappeared within half a second. I looked at her bewildered.
‘Is something wrong?’ she asked me, looking behind her.
‘I.. I just thought.. I thought I saw something. It’s nothing,’ I whispered.
We drank the rest of our soda and I said goodbye to Nana, she had to go back home. We went back to shopping, but around three o’clock, we only went to the grocery store, to get our dinner for the evening. We went back home, where Gabby and Marie went up to their rooms, which appeared to be in the packhouse and Angel and me went into the kitchen, starting preparations for dinner.
