The next two days went by similar, I wanted Christopher to know I felt safe. So we didn’t leave the packhouse and I promised my Nana to come by soon, when she called me. I had to wait for my cast to be gone before I could face her, she would be worried sick and certainly wouldn’t understand if it would come off that soon. Today was the day it would go off, it was early Wednesday morning. I was bouncing up and down, hoping Christopher would wake up and take me down to the infirmary.

‘Calm down, Muffin, you’re making me nauseous..’ he muttered sleepily.

‘Good! More reasons to go to the infirmary quicker!’ I exclaimed, totally ready for that heavy cast to come off.

‘Okay, okay.. get dressed,’ he said.

I grabbed my clothes and got dressed in the bathroom, when I got back, Cristopher had fallen asleep again. With one hand, I pushed him from the bed, making him stand up angry. Quickly his face softened, he also found my cast annoying. I had hit him with it several times at night, during one of my nightmares. He got dressed and I looked at him a little apologetically, he just hugged me tight. We went down to the infirmary, where the doctor was already working on papers.

‘You must be very ready to get it off, how is it feeling?’ he asked.

‘It hurts a little, but other than that it’s fine. I’d like to use my arm again,’ I said.

He started removing the cast and I felt so relieved, when he was done, he massaged some more blood into my arm. It hadn’t been in the cast long enough to get very skinny, but I did notice it was a lot less strong after three days of rest. I smiled at Christopher, who was looking at my arm angry. He didn’t track the damn vampire after he got off our territory, even though he had wanted to rip the beast apart.

‘Don’t worry darling, I’m fine now,’ I promised, squeezing his hand.

The doctor declared me healthy, so we could leave, now we would have the entire day to spend together. Christopher promised we would go visit my grandmother, just like she had asked me.

Just after lunch, Christopher directed Daniel to his tasks in Christopher’s absence. After that we got into his car and drove through the town to Nana’s home. When we got there, I realised something was wrong. There was a car in the driveway, but I didn’t recognizing it immediately.

‘Was your Nana expecting anyone else?’ Christopher asked, at that moment I realised why it seemed so familiar.

‘That’s my car!’ I exclaimed.

‘Your car? How did that get here?’ he asked me, chuckling.

‘You knew didn’t you!?’ I asked him, wide eyed.

‘I don’t know anything, come lets ask your Nana,’ he said, struggling to keep his smile in check.

I jumped out of the car, racing to the front door. I opened it with my key and yelled for Nana, before Christopher had even properly parked. I was embraced not by my Nana, but by Rhea, my mother. I cried with joy, even though I was absolutely happy to be with Christopher, I had missed both my parents the past few days.

‘Oh mom, I missed you,’ I whispered.

‘I missed you too honey,’ she said, I could feel she was crying.

David came to us too and hugged both me and my mother. I felt Christopher entering the room, my mother let go and walked over to hug him as well.

‘Oh, Nana told me you are making my baby so happy, thank you,’ she cried.

‘Mom, dad, this is Christopher,’ I said. ‘Christopher. These are my parents, Rhea and David.’

My mother let go of Christopher and grabbed my left arm, sending pain through my just healed arm. I closed my eyes, trying not to show my pain.
