I kept looking for a job and the vampire didn’t leave town. It was scary, because I practiced in the woods every day. I didn’t like the fact that I lied to Rhea about it, but I told her I had several job interviews even though everyone turned me down, because I had no experience. One day that I was in the woods, a wolf appeared, I could smell him before I saw him. I turned to where he was coming from, keeping my fighting stance. When he came running from the woods, he stopped before me point blank. I stared at him, I had seen his light fur before, he was from the Price pack. The man who had guided me to the Alpha twice. He nudged his head towards his pack and gave me a pleading look. Something was wrong, he led the way to his pack, past the house and we pushed through the woods arriving at a fight. Alpha Price was fighting with another wolf and so were the others. They were outnumbered. The blonde, jumped back into the fight and I followed, snapping at a wolf with black fur, I knew he wasn’t of the Price pack, because he smelled different. He bit down on my back, but I got myself away from his grasp and pounced him. He bit my leg, but I bit down on his neck, ripping it apart. He dropped on the floor, another wolf lunged for me, I snapped at his legs, he pierced my ear, almost ripping it off. I snarled at my opponent and bit down on his leg more, making him whimper in pain. He tried to walk away, but I pounced him once more, slashing my nails into his abdomen. He whimpered, but I didn’t back down now, I bit his neck, ripping it apart. A large beast with brown fur, pounced me, glaring at me angrily. He radiated so much power, I wasn’t able to move. His snout came down slowly, he opened his mouth and pulled up his lip, growling loudly. He had to be at least a Beta. Suddenly he was pushed off me, I only saw the light fur of Alpha Price, he saved me. He was handling himself fine in the fight with the powerful wolf, so I jumped into the fight, killing even more wolves before the other pack retreated.

By the time the other pack retreated we had lost a lot of wolves and so had they. I was sure I killed almost ten wolves. When we got to the packhouse, one of the females got me a shirt and showed me a place where I could change. I did and walked towards their living area where Jeremy Price was laying on the couch, a tall woman sitting beside him crying.

‘Darling, don’t worry, I’ll be fine,’ he said through clenched teeth.

He was in tremendous pain, his stomach had been slashed open and his arm had been broken, with bite marks. His wounds started to heal, but if his arm would stay like this, it would heal wrong.

‘Do you have a doctor?’ I asked him, ignoring everyone’s looks.

‘No, she perished in the fight,’ he said.

I came closer and looked at him apologetically. I grabbed his arm and janked on it, setting it straight. He growled and screamed in pain and the woman was on me in a second. Punching me in the face.

‘Never hurt my mate again!’ She growled. ‘Filthy rogue!’

‘I.. only.. tried.. to.. help!’ I yelled in between punches.

A man with dark brown hair pulled her from me, gently, he must be the Beta.

‘Explain yourself,’ he told me, glaring at me.

‘If I wouldn’t have set his arm, it had to be broken again. Wolves heal too fast to waist time. His arm would have been in this strange angle until you’d have found another doctor, he would have been forced to break the bone to get it set right. I’m a veterinarian, I just acted on instinct,’ I said, still sitting on the floor, submitting to his glare, rubbing my face.

‘Thank you,’ I heard Price tell me from the couch.

‘You’d best favour the arm for the coming days, I don’t know when the bone is healed properly, but I bet it’ll take a few days,’ I said, not looking at him.
