The house was trashed, it would take days, maybe weeks to get it rebuild, we had lost two more wolves. When we arrived, Christopher ran inside quickly, leaving me and Angel in the car. We got out and with linked arms we went inside. She had healed completely, she had only gained some superficial cuts, which had healed already. My head was still hurting and my stomach was killing me, so I was being supported by Angel. A woman ran towards us, I had seen her several times, but I never spoke with her.

‘My Luna,’ she whispered, bowing her head for me. ‘Please allow me to help you.’

I hadn’t realised how much pressure I was putting on Angel, so I said yes and the woman grabbed my arm, holding me up too. I was feeling weak and dizzy.

‘My name is Gabby,’ he woman told me.

She had red puffy eyes and could only be about two years older than me.

‘Thank you, Gabby,’ I whispered.

Without word from me, they were taking me to the doctor, my head was spinning and I felt like vomiting. Most of our wounded had been tended for, but the doctor was still working on a patient, stitching up his wound. When he saw me, he wanted to come over to me, but Angel told him to finish his work first. I was glad she said it, because I had thought it. The man had to help people in order of severity.

‘Gabby, did your mate..’ I whispered, I couldn’t bare myself to say it.

‘Yes, my Luna, my mate sacrificed his life to save our pack,’ she said, fresh tears appearing in her eyes.

I wanted to hug her, but Angel beat me to it, she was holding the woman tight. It was better that way, they both knew how it felt, they could keep each other strong.

‘My Luna,’ the doctor said, approaching us. ‘What can I help you with?’

‘My head is killing me, I’m dizzy and a little nauseous. Also my stomach is hurting very badly, Angel told me my baby is fine, but would you please make sure?’ I asked.

‘Yes, Ma’am,’ he told me.

He grabbed a tool and checked out my eyes and looked my head over for any injury. When he touched the side of my face, I winced, that was where the vampire had hit me.

‘You have quite a severe concussion, but I don’t think you have any serious trauma there.’

I nodded and lay down on the hospital bed, he lifted up my shirt just as Christopher entered the room, he snarled at the doctor.

‘Come on, Christopher, I cannot examine your mate’s stomach if she’s fully dressed,’ he said, without even flinching.

‘She has my pain,’ he said, crossing his arms like a big baby.

‘No Chris, he kicked me, I just want to be sure,’ I whispered, placing my hands on my stomach.

‘Could the ultrasound wait for a moment?’ he asked the doctor.

‘Anything you say Alpha,’ the doctor said.

We all turned to see him, he was also covering his stomach with his hands.

‘I need some stitches,’ he said, sitting down on the bed next to me.

He pulled up his bloodstained shirt and showed us a large gaping wound. The doctor hurried himself getting steriliser, needle and thread and some other things. Angel took Gabby away, who was crying. I sat up, looking at the doctors work, he was clean and done quickly. He did a quick check of the rest of Christopher’s body, but he was fine otherwise. The doctor checked my stomach, where a large bruise was forming.
