I was whirling around my room, trying to find a decent outfit for that night. It had been eight weeks since my pregnancy test and I was actually starting to form a small bump. It wasn’t much yet, but I knew it would be more. I made a small pirouette and when I did it, I realised I shouldn’t have. I bolted for the bathroom and emptied my stomach into the toilet, like I had done so many times in the past few weeks. Christopher came into the bedroom and held my hair out of my face. I was still convulsing, trying to expel everything in my stomach. My morning sickness usually kept going until three in the afternoon, then it would become less and less, so the only real meal I could eat was dinner, which would sadly be evicted the next morning. Which was why I didn’t understand why Christopher had asked me to come to dinner with me that night.

‘Are you okay? Feeling better now?’ he asked, gently rubbing my back.

I nodded, wiping my mouth with a wet cloth I had there, just for that purpose. I braided my hair, so it wouldn’t get in the way again.

‘This doesn’t make being pregnant appealing though,’ I muttered, while he took me back to the bedroom.

‘I know darling, but our baby girl will be worth it,’ he promised, hugging me gently.

‘You still can’t be sure it’s a girl, besides I’d rather not know yet,’ I told him. ‘Go back to work.’

I pushed him to the door and went on, looking for a nice dress. We would go to an Italian restaurant in the next town over. Kayleigh and Daniel would follow and stay close as our bodyguards.

I still hadn’t told Christopher about the woman in red, he had stopped asking about her, after my telling him it must just be a figment of my imagination. I was still seeing the red flash, I had nightmares every other night and in each of them she attempted to kill me, different ways every single time. It kept me on edge, very alert, but I didn’t really mind. I’d rather be alerted by her flashing by, than be comfortable with it and she would attack out of the blue. I knew nothing new of her, she was still the same stranger as she was before. She always called me names, but I knew nothing.

I finally found a pretty dress, which came just below my knees, I grabbed a pair of leggings and a nice vest, which would look okay with the dress. It was November, so the cold was coming in. I placed them on the bed. I was wearing my comfortable sweatpants and one of Christopher’s huge t-shirts. I checked the time, I was running late. I had an appointment with our doctor to make an ultrasound. I hurried myself downstairs and gently knocked on the door. He asked me in and immediately we went to the right bed. He pulled up my t-shirt and applied the gel.

‘How have you been feeling?’ he asked me.

‘Ehm.. Nauseous a lot. Otherwise I’m fine.’

‘For some women the sickness disappear after a while, but it can stay with you for the remainder of your pregnancy, so be prepared for that,’ he told me.

‘I’m afraid I’ll be one of those who will stay nauseous. Can we see him?’ I asked, getting excited by looking at the grey screen.

‘Why do you call it a him? We don’t know the sex yet,’ he asked me.

‘Probably mostly because Christopher thinks it’s a girl,’ I said, winking at him.

‘In about ten weeks I’ll be able to tell you what it’s gender will be,’ he told me, offering me a smile.

‘Thanks, but I might want it to be a surprise. I’m not sure I want to know yet,’ I told him.

‘Well he’s looking fine, the heartbeat is steady. I’ll make a picture of the ultrasound, so you can show our Alpha,’ he told me.

‘Thank you.’

He made the print and gave the picture to me, I held on to it for dear life. This would be our little miracle, no matter if it would be a boy or a girl. I thanked the man for my check up and went up to the second floor, knocking on Christopher’s door. I walked in immediately and found him, talking with Daniel.

‘Was everything okay?’ he asked me straight away.

‘Yes, I have the picture, would you like to see?’ I asked.

He nodded enthusiastically, so I walked over and showed him the picture. Daniel came to the other side of the desk and also looked at the picture. Christopher had such a loving expression in his eyes, that I knew he would love us both forever.

‘Daniel, you’re dismissed,’ Christopher said.

He looked me in the eyes and I heard Daniel discreetly leave the room.

‘I love you, Alpha,’ I whispered

‘I love you, Luna,’ he whispered back.

‘Weren’t you working?’ I asked, I hadn’t wanted to interrupt.

‘No, it’s alright. I can be alone with my kitten if I want to,’ he said.

‘Kitten? What happened to Muffin?’ I asked, laughing.

‘I thought I’d try something new, do you like it?’

‘I only just got used to hearing Muffin,’ I said, still laughing.

‘I’ll call you Muffin then,’ he promised, sealing it with a kiss.

When I opened my eyes, a flash of red passed by behind Christopher. As usual I looked up, trying to get a glimpse of the woman or to see if she was actually there. Like all the other times, I didn’t smell anything vampire in the room.

‘Are you okay?’ Christopher asked.

‘Yes, I just thought I had to puke again,’ I told him.

I didn’t like to lie to him, but this was the only thing I lied about. I didn’t want him to worry about some strange woman in my dreams.

‘Okay, but you feel okay now?’ he asked.

‘Yes, I’m feeling better,’ I said, stroking his cheek.

‘Try and find a nice dress before seven o’clock, I would like to leave then,’ he chuckled.

‘I already found one. Do I have to help you with anything?’ I asked him.

‘No, you just go and watch a little television or read. Just relax. I do have some work waiting for me,’ he said.

I pulled him close one more time and kissed him passionately.

‘I love you,’ I said, maybe a little emotional.

‘I love you too, my Muffin,’ he answered.

I went out of his office and went downstairs to the living room, joining Gabby with watching television.
