A knock woke me, when I checked my phone, it wasn’t even two in the morning. I hopped to the door, but no one was there. Another knock made me turn to my window. I hadn’t thought of the window because I was on the second floor. I didn’t see anything, because of the curtains. The pain in my leg made me hop to the window, I opened the curtains to see those intense amber eyes. The ones I couldn’t get out of my mind. This time they weren’t surrounded by silver fur, but by pink skin. He had beautiful dark blonde hair, which made me wonder how he had been silver instead of his hair color. He looked at me questioning. I realised I had been daydreaming, I opened my window and took several hops back, lowering myself in submission.

‘Don’t, please don’t?’ he whispered, climbing in slowly.

I had a strong urge to plunge myself into his arms, but I sat down on my bed, so my leg wouldn’t hurt as much.

‘Oh Cupcake, did they hurt you much?’ he asked.

I jerked my head up at the nickname, Cupcake!? He came closer carefully.

‘My neck hurts, but the wounds are almost gone there. My leg however still hurts a lot and I had to bandage it,’ I said.

I tucked a small strand of hair behind my ear, the rest of it was pushed into a braid and then a bun.

‘I’m so sorry,’ he said, I could feel he was telling me the truth.

‘Why did you call them off? I’m a rogue,’ I whispered.

Deep down inside me I knew the answer, my wolf hadn’t said anything, but pranced around in my mind.

‘Don’t you feel it?’ he asked, sounding very insecure for a muscular and strong guy.

His eyes were growing sad, I didn’t want that. He shouldn’t be sad over me, ever.

‘It’s not.. I don’t know. She’s so damn silent,’ I said, putting my head in my hands.

‘Cupcake, you are my mate, you must feel the pull or at least think of me?’ he asked.

I looked up in his worried eyes.

‘Please don’t call me Cupcake..’ I whispered.

‘I’m sorry Dawn, but can you please put me out of my misery?’ he asked.

I realised I hadn’t answered his question, I wasn’t really able to say anything. I picked up my sketchbook and showed it to him. He opened the last page and found his own picture, he looked shocked

‘I.. I just..’ I stuttered, feeling guilty about showing it to him

‘I guess you like my eyes,’ he said, with a goofy grin on his face.

‘Honey! Is everything alright in there?’ I heard Nana ask from her room.

‘Yes Nana, I’m just waking from a nightmare, don’t worry,’ I shout back.

‘Shall I make some tea?’ she asked.

‘No Nana, you can sleep now!’ I shouted back, panicking about her coming into my room.

‘Okay dear, see you in the morning!’ she answered.

I sighed relieved. The man was still standing in my bedroom, staring lovingly at the picture.

‘It’s not fair, is it?’ I whispered, making sure I kept my voice down this time.

‘What do you mean?’ he asked me.

He crouched down before me, pushing the stray strand of hair behind my ear.

‘Well, you know my name is Dawn, because you heard my grandmother call me, but I do not know your name. “The wolf with amber eyes”, doesn’t really sound very impressive,’ I whispered.

‘I’m sorry my dear. My name is Christopher James, Alpha of the James pack, about an hour run from here. We are the second largest in the state,’ he said, proudly.

‘I only ever meet Alpha’s,’ I mutter under my breath.

‘Please explain?’ he asked, he looked so curious, coming closer.

‘I’ve almost only met Alpha’s, I don’t have a pack, Sir.’

He looked at me with wide eyes.

‘I thought you knew I’m a...’

He stopped me by putting his hand on my mouth, which made my lips tingle and then my stomach too.

‘You never have to call me Sir, my Muffin. You may always call me Christopher,’ he said, his eyes softening. ‘I know you are a rogue, we will talk about that, but now you need some sleep.’

I was tired, I had been rubbing my eyes a few times.

‘Could I just..’ he muttered.

I looked at him and encouraged him.

‘Could we just hug, once?’ he asked.

Before I knew it, I was nodding my head and I got up from my bed, he snaked his arms around my waist and pressed against me. It felt heavenly, the scent of cinnamon and vanilla encasing me, intoxicating me.

‘I like Muffin better,’ I whispered against his chest.

His chest vibrated when he laughed a little bit and he let go. Suddenly I felt very cold and lonely. He climbed out of the window and looked at me again.

‘Please meet me in town tomorrow? I would like to see you again,’ he said.

I only nodded and he left, he quickly ran out of the clark territory and soon I heard a howl. There was no doubt in my mind that it was him.

‘Christopher..’ I let the name roll off my tongue, it suit him.

I closed the window and the curtains. I picked up my sketchbook and noticed he had ripped his picture out. When had he time to have done that? I picked up my pencil and started on his eyes again. First drawing his picture as a wolf again, then I drew his face as a human, which was equally appealing. He had been so handsome, but I hadn’t had to time to admire him. So much had gone through me, I knew, he was my mate, but why didn’t my wolf scream and shout for him.

‘I do, but you knew, so I didn’t have to remind you,’ she told me.

Christopher was right, I really did need my sleep. I was yawning, but I didn’t want to ruin the night by having nightmares. I knew I would fall asleep anyway, so I put the sketchbook away, as well as the pencil and lay down in the bed, quickly dropping down in a deep sleep. With amber eyes, blood, fur and snarls.
