(POV) Bree

When we stopped by the door, I turned to face Chase with a smile. I saw someone out of the corner of my eye down by the main office coming towards us. As I looked closer, it was the one person I had hoped I wouldn't see. I dropped Chase's hand and pushed him away. Chase followed my gaze, and when he finally saw why I had let go, he walked quickly away.

"What are you doing here, Tasha*?" I asked as Tasha walked towards me.

"I'm here because Leo broke his leg in gym. The ambulance came to pick him up already. I came to get you and Adam early so we could all go to the hospital together. Anyways, who was that, and where is Adam's class at?" Tasha explained as I motioned to Chase and Adam's class down the hall. We began walking in that direction after Tasha handed the note to my teacher. I waited in the hall as Tasha went to get Adam. I let my eyes follow her into the classroom. As I glanced around the room, I caught Chase's glance. He smiled back at me and then motioned to his phone. I turned to grab my phone out of my back pocket and noticed I had an unread text.

Hey, sorry I ran. I didn't want to get you in trouble :) is she interrogating you :P

Thanks :) and yes she did ask who I was talking to, what should I say? She might know it was you

Tell her I was pestering you about how awesome Muffin Mania is :P we're just so much more popular that you guys :)

"Hey, where are we going?" Adam asked as we were all out in the hallway. I quietly slipped my phone back into my back pocket.

"The hospital, Leo broke his leg in gym. Come on." Tasha said as we started to make our way out of the school. I felt eyes on me as Adam and I stepped into the back seat of the car. We knew Tasha needed her space right now so there was no point in fighting over the passenger's seat.

"So, Bree? Are you going to answer my question? Who were you talking to?" Tasha asked blandly. I immediately knew Tasha recognized Chase, this was bad.

"Oh that was just Chase from Muffin Mania. He was annoying me about how they've had more customers recently because of the New Year's health kicks. I just told him to get over it because we always get the holidays and parties. With the fact that all the graduations are coming up, we'll be more busy, anyway." I lied warily. I was still worried Tasha saw Chase and I holding hands.

"Oh, sorry Bree. I didn't mean to think anything of that." Tasha replied vaguely. I knew there was something still on her mind. I just hoped it was Leo, and not the fact that I was talking with our rival from Mission Creek Mall.
